- Don't pot preflop here. You have no suits, not many straight draws and one pair. This is pretty weak when OOP
- If there's a raise and a 3-bet in front of you, it's ok to 4-bet / shove here, because you've usually got a good chance at getting all in HU preflop, which is never a terrible thing with AAxx... But here you're mostly going to be OOP in a multi-way pot with a hand that plays terribly post-flop.
- As played, check/fold the flop. You're hardly ever ahead on this flop, and even if you are, you're not ever a math favourite with anyone who wants to put in a lot of $ ...



- This hand is fine, exactly how I'd play it I think. Your top two is ahead nearly always when he just smooths your pot-raise, the turn only completed one draw - so yeah barrel it again, especially with your stack. Sometimes he has bottom set or whatever, but shrug, move on.
- If you were quite a bit deeper, you wouldn't want to pot the turn though. Because there's soooo many scare-cards on the river you don't want to balloon the pot out of control on the turn cause you can basically never value-bet river unless you fill up, and you don't particularly want him to read your check as weakness and barrell the river when the pot is big enough that you care etc... But yeah, with your stack size, barrell the turn is good

Yeah this is pretty bad... Don't try to bluff co-ordinated flops like this really. You're just never getting enough folds there... It's incredibly rare that I stone-cold bluff any flops at all really. I mostly leave my bluffing for the turn when I have a better idea of where they are, and on the turn people are less likely to stick it in with random draws with only 1 card to come... If I am going to stone-cold bluff any flop, it's going to be like J 6 2 rainbow heh.

Oh right... didn't even see the two pair, but yeah that's barely worth even factoring in. If it was 2 pair + second nut flush draw or something then it's okay, but bottom two pair with no redraws is basically like ace high in holdem. It'll win sometimes, but ya never really bank on it.

Ive quit FT for MTTs, I scoff @ people who say poker is rigged but Ive had 3 straight months of losing money there, which is fkn ridiculous considering the fact that I am IRON FIST!@!!..... and when I switch sites I start making maney straight away. GTFO FT IMO

It's the thrill of the chase, the $10 invested which can turn into hundreds, even thousands in some cases, not just $40 from a single table SNG...SNGs are great for building a bankroll up, but then I like the MTTs as the potential reward is huge.

I'm still profitable across MTTs on FT, barely, shipped 2 x 45 man $10 games in the last week, $171 win a pop...just hard to avoid the variance and stay ahead.

From EP, (esp UTG), it's all about redraws than the pairs. I'll even open fold QQxx sometimes from UTG, if it's like Q-Q-2-7 rainbow. I mean if you raise/limp with that you're basically set-mining, and even then a set is pretty fragile. Just avoid raggety one-pair hands like that imo, I'd basically only play KK+ if your other cards suck from EP.. Obviously you open up a bit more from LP. But 8874 with one suit is a far superior hand to KK26 rainbow ...




I don't mind the turn check, but you gotta raise the river imo. You have second nuts, and at these stakes you're gunna get called by nut straights and lower flushes sometimes. Your best play is to raise/fold. If you raise, you're basically never ever getting re-raised by any hand but the nuts, so you don't need to worry about being bluffed. Just raise like half-pot for value, and fold if you get repotted.

Cause it's the Midnight Madness heh. People are fkn crazy in that tourney so a decent way to play it is very erratically for the first few levels to try and build a stack or just give up. There's no point nitting about then being short-stacked after 40 mins heh. I bet sized like that because I thought he might fold some of his weaker hands to a full shove, but would call nearly all of his range for merely half my stack.. Just that kind of situation. Trip report from satellite at Sky City yesterday for the Lee Nelson Deep Stack Main Event:
Haven't destroyed a live tournament like that in such a long time :>

2500 starting stack, 20 min levels, 30 entrants, 6 get a ticket.

# - Doubled up like 4th hand. Loose old guy raises to 150, gets flatted, I 3b to 625 with Ad Qc, loose oldie calls, flatter folds. Flop 6h 7h Qh. Old dude check-shoves, I call, he shows 10c 10h - 8d on turn for the gutterball, but I fade the river phew..

# - I was playing with chips in front of my cards waiting for my turn, then put the stack of chips back in my pile, look down at Kh7d so went to fold, by pushing my cards forward. Didn't realise though that I'd left one chip on the felt in front of me, and accidentally pushed that chip forward when I was trying to fold. I just looked awkwardly and go "Uhh oops, is that a call or a fold?" and the dealer enforced it as a call. I go ok fine, call, and then warn the table not to raise cause I will spite call for sure 4-way to the flop. Flop 9d 10d Kd. UTG tight n00b leads 200, Angie (annoying ukrainian fish) calls, asian dude raises to 1000, I ship all in obv, UTG sigh-calls, angie folds, and then asian dude with like 900 behind tank-folds the nut straight lol. UTG shows 24dd for the baby flush. So I have any diamond to win... Turn: King .... River: 7 lololol runner-runner boat FTW

# - By now I'm on like 8.5k ... Colin at my table (aggressive reg, we always enjoy messing with each other) just doubled up to about 6k we're both miles ahead of everyone else. I say to him "sigh.... I feel a big pot coming". He laughs and goes "yeah, if only we could play ego-less poker! Oh well".... Like two hands later, there's this ultra nervous nitty dude in the BB so I've resolved to raise his blind every time no matter what... I raise from MP with 86o to 525, folds to Colin on the button who 3b to 1425, all else fold. I *knew* when it got to Colin that he was going to 3b, knowing that I was attacking the weak blind, so I 4-bet to 5000, he sigh-folds and claims A-10o, which I think is BS anyway, but obv I show the bluff and table cracks up :>

# - Next, we have one limper, then Paul, and oldish pretty straight-forward TAG to my right raises to 1000 with 2000 behind and I look down at 88. This is probably a fold quite a lot, but I felt pretty strongly he had two big cards, so I just flatted and planned to fold to any A or K on flop and otherwise ship. Flop 8 9 2 lol. I check/call his AJ ship. Owned.

# - So now we're at the final table, 10 left, 6 go through, I'm CL by a mile with like 21k. So I can just leave now and be guaranteed a spot by posting and folding... I do that for a while cause it's probably the smart play, and mostly cause I was pretty card dead for a little bit anyway, but then with 8 left I decided screw this, and just started open shipping every hand. I had 20k, next nearest stack is 12k, and he's a good tourney player so won't be calling without AA basically anyway, so it's still pretty safe :> So I open shipped preflop 5 times in a row with trash, everyone folds. On the 6th consecutive time I finally got called by AQ, but I had AA this time table in near hysterics... So awesome. Then I open shipped 3 more times, on the 9th consecutive time I got called by AK, and smashed him with 97o. Game over... gg all

My AA vs QQ hand above, would you guys ever fold there? Someone on another forum said fold, "UTG raise is a range of AKs, AA and KK"

Yeah I can't work out exactly what he was thinking.. I guess he just put Cole on exactly the kind of hand he has, 4 big cards that called the 4-bet and weren't quite strong enough to 5-bet. So he figures Cole has a wrap, and is planning on folding to any scary big card that could make multiple straights, but then decides to run with it when the 3 comes. Pretty freakin ballsy though that's for sure. It's Cole who he owned with a three-barrell call with just a pair of jacks on a scary ass middle-straight board a while back too.
