Couldn't be arsed with this in the Dancenet forum cause it would inevitabley turn into a genre war...

What's your opinion on copying a mix you've heard another DJ pull off... two tracks that you would never have thought would go together but you heard another DJ mix them and it tore the roof off.

eg: Roger Sanchez mixed "Another Chance" in as he came out of Masters At Work "Work". Two tracks that I'd never think of going together on reputation alone... but the S Man nailed it.

Are you a prick if you copy some one elses mix??

perhaps a better question to ask would be:

whats the chance of anyone actually noticing?

maybe regarded as sincerest form of flattery?

Ive done that kinda thing before and even though probably no-one would even know u just feel kinda stink about it. I like to be as original as pos.

Are you talking about copying one mix or the whole mix cd? If its one mix, I think its fine and unless its a really oddball mix, I don't think anyone would notice. If I recognised it I'd be like "Ha ha! So and so did that!" But what if the S man stole it from someone else in the first place? Not that I think he would need to!

I think copying an entire mix in the privacy of your own bedroom is a bloody good idea if you're a newbie learner-licence DJ. Learn from the masters. Worked for the Renaissance painters!
