has anyone here used the CDJ-400???
pros? Cons? Do you think it has the same sturdy quality and reliability fo the cdj-1000?

I've got one. I love it. It's not at all similar to the CDJ1000 in either the way it's built or how it operates. They are pretty light and quite plasticky but well made nevertheless
The small jog-wheel takes a bit of getting used to but once you are used to it it's easy.
I've got quite a few tunes on a 4gb memory stick and it plays off that really sweetly.
I'm still an old vinylhead so the 400 is not used as much as it could be.
You probably need to get down to DMC or Music Planet and try them both out.
Reliability is hard to say. Mines about a year old and hasn't missed a beat

The new 400 is all you will ever need for home mixing. No less user-friendly than the 800 or the 1000, and the flash drive compatibility is the icing on the cake.

Only real drawbacks are that there are fewer effects supported, and no waveform readout on the display. Other than that they're a pleasure to use.

See I dont know about that, the jog wheel on the fuckers is a deal breaker imo. When it comes to user friendly the 1000s are easily the best way to go, but, as always, money is going to be the kicker.

The major win on the new gen 400s that should also be on the 1000s (but alas, probably never will be) is the USB capabilities.

Short answer to the OP: No, not the same sturdy quality as the 1000s, but you didnt really expect that at a fraction of the price did you? Razz

Cheers fullas. I'm looking for something that never ever ever ever ever (almost) never skips...I use Numarks and am pretty happy overall and they aren't 99.99942% skip-free

I find the 400s sweet as, but ill always prefer the 1000s.

If you can afford the extra $$, id go for the 1000s. I find the waveform and hotcues invaluable, the single improvement it could have would be the USB capability and midi control.

The only reason either one would skip would be a bung cd.

Hey folks. I'm new to this forum & just stumbled on this (A bit late but anyway)
The cdj400 ,yeh ,i had one and as usual the pio cd player is as solid as you would expect but thats about all.

If is the external device playback function that attracts you then don't bother because its a futile waste of space.

You have a load of mp3s on a flash pen or whatever & searching through them will just do yer head in !

If you like the idea of having all your tunes in your pocket on the night then the only players that make it possible are 'Denon'.
They have set new standards with their intuative players.

The cdj 400 in my veiw is a clumsy mid market novelty.

Either buy the 800 or 1000 or buy the 200. There's nothing pio inbetween ! Or ,if you just want flashng lights and dont mind paying through the nose for them .......Well........Your choice.

Despite what people say about pio' ,they are only the best if you think they are & thats exactly what pio' want you to think !
