Not sure if anyone's into running but been preparing myself for an upcoming competition. Came across this article on Pilates and running. Pretty interesting. http://www.salus.net.nz/pages/articles/running-and-pilates-there-is-nothing-like-it.php.

Yeah I know. I feel a lot more pumped after a Pilates session aye. It's great especially if you running. They do have great articles being posted. Came across another one on the ACL - http://www.salus.net.nz/pages/articles/anterior-cruciate-ligament-acl-and-pilates.php

Crazy! Guess it makes sense in its working peripheral muscles tho Smile

The way I see it bro, pilates give you strong core and therefore makes you more stable. While doing other exercises, such as squats, you're using core pretty much all the time. Being more stable in core therefore helps you lift more. Smile

To be honest, I don't know about squats. They tend to place a lot of stress of the knees. I have found Pilates to be less strenuous on the muscles and joints.

Squats place a lot of stress on the knees? Nooooo... Razz

Yes, of course they do. But I love them. And I found that pilates contributes a lot to my squatting ability, as my core is stronger. I don't know what pilates you go to, but the ones that I've been to, no tension is places on joints. Pilates, in my understanding and experiences going to classes, is about core strength. I'm not sure what you're talking about in regards to stress levels on joints.. Confused

I know squats place a lot of stress on the body however considering even if your core is strong which is primarily your upper body e.g. abdominal muscles, back, etc, it still places incredible amounts of strain on the knees. I am not suggesting Pilates places stress on joints at all. I was referring to squats as a whole.
