Peter Brock RIP

Another sad day for motorsport enthusiasts.

Peter brock died today whilst driving in the W.A targa rally.

From what I saw on the tv, it appears he lost control and slid sideways into a tree, drivers door first and died at the scene. His co driver is apparantly in a stable condition.

Ill always remember him racing at the last waterfront street race in wellington and having a massive crash on cable st. Myself and some friends had access to the inside of the track due to a mate living within the circuits confines so we ran up the road and grabbed as many body parts as possible including a huge chunk of mag wheel with the tyre valve intact.

Why is everyone referring to Peter in the news as an aussie? I thought he was a kiwi?

obviously. so why was he so big in NZ?

because he was a legend, plain and simple.

That much i gathered, but theres plenty of aussie legends out there who dont get any recognition from us. Dont get me wrong, i think hes a great man who has done the world of good for his sport etc, im just trying to figure it out. I didnt grow up with him as a kid since hes not that big in the UK.

put him on the same pedestal as damon hill and his father or nigel mansell etc and your in the same ballpark for respect in this part of the world

yes yes im well aware of the supercars and the O5 commodore etc, thankyou all for your insight. I know the guy is a legend, just a bit dissapointed to find out hes an aussie not a kiwi.
