More than just a summertime music festival, The Parihaka International Peace Festival is a flame of hope in a world full of conflict and unrest.

The Parihaka International Peace Festival presents a vision for the future of humanity, a light as bright as the stars in the sky. The iconic white feather of Parihaka is the emblem embodying the visions and insights of the 19th century spiritual leaders Te Whiti o Rongomai and Tohu Kakahi, world famous for their foundational work and sacrifice as fathers of non-violent resistence.

The Parihaka International Peace Festival honors the teachings of these leaders and the legacy they have provided for the people of the world. To share in this legacy is a gift that encourages movement toward a just, peaceful and non-violent society.

We invite you to join us for the launch of this festival as we prepare to take part in the cultural. artistic, spiritual, historical and thought provoking dialogue of enrichment that has characterized the Parihaka experience as a vehicle for action.

About Kasey Taylor

Kasey Taylor March 2008 Bio
(Vapour/Vapourise/eVapourCool

Kasey Taylor began DJ’ing at the young age of 13 in a little roller disco in the outback of Australia, and has never really looked back since. He is one of Australia’s biggest dance exports, and is now one of the most accomplished and most recognized Dj’s on the global stage. Indeed, you might expect a few results in your 23rd year of Dj’ing, but the truth is that experience and practice will only get you so far and at some stage it takes raw talent to turn the heads of the dance community.

As a DJ, there is very little that Kasey hasn’t done. In the years gone past he has played at almost every big gig in Melbourne and held residencies at every major club of note. In particular, Kasey played an integral role in creating the magic that was the ‘Mansion’. A venue that has gone down in clubbing history as one of the best to ever sit on the planet, with just about every international DJ you could name at the time playing guest roles there. He has played alongside the likes of Sasha and Digweed to Hernan Cattaneo to Carl Cox, Satoshi Tomiie and almost anyone you can think of. The list is endless. In fact John Digweed was so impressed with Kasey that he twice invited him to play at his Bedrock night in London, which sits in the music industry as one of the greatest clubbing nights ever. He has also supported at all the major festivals in Australia, like the Renaissance and Global Underground festivals, Two Tribes festivals and Summadayze festivals just to name a few. The more recent highlights have been the closing sets at Rainbow Serpent Festival 2008, closing set at Voov Festival in Germany 2006, the Labyrinth Festival in Japan (3 years in a row), and many more festivals and club gigs around the world, with Creamfields Central Europe the next one on the list in July.

Kasey these days resides in Portugal and can be found playing all across the globe, from Europe to Australia, South America to Asia, Mexico and the north pole! There is not many places where Kasey Taylor hasn’t been.

For over a decade now, Kasey has had the luxury of releasing his records on his own well respected label ‘Vapour Recordings’, which he founded in 1997 and now has over 60 releases to it’s name. In the time since Kasey Taylor founded Vapour Recordings, and 3 years since Vapourise, both labels have forged themselves an enviable reputation, not only as a couple of Australia’s leading independent dance labels, but the worlds too. 2008 will see Kasey launch label number 3 titled ‘eVapour8’, and will be solely dedicated to Techno and Techo House. The new label already has runs on the board and the first release has only just come out recently. Avilo – Rubicon, of what will be the 2nd release on eVapour8, is already featured on Anthony Pappa’s triple mix CD – Moments (our now). After a quiet period with Vapourise, 2008 will also see the re-launch of this label and all 3 labels running in full force, so keep your eyes out for these labels new releases over the coming months.

In the past, Kasey has collaborated with people like Luke Chable, Greed, Barry Jamieson (currently working with Sasha), Jon Sutton, Andy Jarrod, with the most recent one being Chris Meehan. Returning to the studio after a 3 year absence, Kasey is now back in the rhythm of making music on his own, and is on a roll, so you will finally be hearing a lot more of his productions over the coming months. He has already completed 3 remixes, all available now with the first being a remix of the single ‘Red Robin’ by Antix, for the Wanderer’s remix album on Iboga, a remix of LeRon, Yves, Eaux & C-Jay – FantoomLust, and a remix of Avilo – Easy 15, both on Vapour Recordings.

May 2008 will also see the release of a new CD titled GEMS. GEMS, is a joint release between Vapour Recordings & Iboga Records, and is a CD dedicated to releases on Vapour only. The CD will Feature Artists like Dousk, Luke Chable, Solead, Peter Jurgens, Avilo, Flow & Zeo and many more, and will feature unreleased tracks, exclusive remixes of recent tracks, with a couple of classics thrown in for good measure. It will be available on CD, digital download and their will a specially mixed version of all that tracks by Kasey, which will be available exclusively for digital download only.

So what is it about Kasey’s music that has won him the respect of the dance community? If you really want to know, plant your feet on the dance floor for the full duration of a Taylor set. You can talk about programming as Kasey effortlessly and subtlety changes gears from all genres of music, sucking you into his sound scape to a point where you look up all of a sudden and realise you’ve been lost in music for hours - You can talk about his astounding mixing which is so precise that you probably won’t even know whether a track is coming or going -You can talk about the fact that Kasey will be playing records weeks before most, You can talk about the fact that Kasey doesn’t compromise his sound and still remains accessible.

You can talk about a lot of things but at the end of the night it all comes down to one thing: Kasey Taylor has a scary understanding of dance music. He writes it, he plays it, he studies it and he lives it, so if you ever get the chance to go and hear a Kasey Taylor set, enjoy it!
