A photograph showing a Palestinian toddler dressed as a suicide bomber caused outrage in Israel on Friday after it was released by the Israeli army, precipitating another war of words with the Palestinians.

Palestinian officials dismissed it as a propaganda trick by Israel to justify pressing on with an army offensive in the West Bank. Relatives said the photograph was genuine but was taken for fun.

This story seems almost to good to be true for the Israeli media/propaganda machine but then again I wouldn't put it past some of the more fanatical of the Palestinians.

The one thing that puzzles me (and forgive me if I'm being ignorant) is the colour of the child’s skin, aren't most Palestinians a bit more *how do I say this without receiving a beating* tanned?

What do you guys think? Is it genuine, faked by the Israelis, faked by some Western news agency or faked by the Palestinians so they could say the Israelis faked it!

Yes i must say when i saw the photo i did think hey that baby is laking a little "colour". But then who am i to say that all palistinians are more tanned. Ive never meet one.

Thats what I thought, I have never met a Palestinian so what would I know, but I still have my doubts.........

Propaganda! and more propaganda!

"Relatives said the photograph was genuine but was taken for fun." there you go...

It does reck of Propoganda but, if what trapper says is so the relatives have a werid perception of fun! Oh and I did meet a Palestinian lady and her and her child were reasonable pale so.....

I wonder though trapper who it was that reported the family as saying that? An Israeli reporter or better still an Israeli Army reporter (how unbiased are either of those options!).

Don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but it does have many of the hallmarks of a dodgy little scheme.

"A cousin of the wanted militant, whose name was not released by the Israeli authorities, told *Reuters* that the young boy had been dressed as a suicide bomber for fun during a family party."

So Reuters made it up?

~or~

The "cousin" made it up.

Just cos Reuters says its true does not make it gospel.

But in actual fact I think those sicko Palestinians were probably dressing up there kids like that, what must that do to the mind of a child? Not to mention being brought up in a holy-war zone.
