Oyster Cards

Does anyone have one of these or know much about them?

I'm considering getting one but I want to know if it works out cheaper than buying a weekly travelcard (which I can use on the bus and save me £2 per day)

I think they're pretty ccol. Have to get mail with my addy on it before I can get one though. Still buying daily travel cards cos I'm fresh off da plane bro.

Oyster cards are waaaay better! They are faster than using a paper ticket especially on the tube, you can recharge them on the internet, plus all your personal info is stored in them, so if you lose your card you can cancel it before anyone else uses it. You can also store multiple tickets on there.

I drive to work now so I dont really use mine anymore, but I keep a pre pay amount on there so I can use it on the weekends etc for going into the city.

Good if you get a weekly travel card, otherwise pretty much useless.

The pre-pay option is slightly cheaper than buying them from the machine, but you can't use them on a bus as a pre-pay, and you can't buy weekend or day travel cards with them yet because "the software isn't ready yet".

Simple - If you use public transport a lot - get with the programme and get an oyster card!

I have an issue with mine at the minute... With some busses it comes up "Communication Error" when everyone elses works.... I just walk on and refuse to pay more if they ask.
This also happens some times at the turnstyles getting on and off the tube.
