None of that retro shite.....

What would be the general consensus on a monthly night focusing on a more eklectic range of music then the usual 'deja vu.... this sounds like the same old shite I heard on George all day' night out....

I.e electroclash, eclectro, classic house (no... not Stardust or Big Love - proper schtuff), Detroit bits and pieces, some older gems (again, none of that psuedo echo shite, more like new order, depeche mode, deborah harry, kraftwerk, georgio moroder etc etc....

Would there be interest???

for some reason it just kills me these days.

when dealing with premoting unpredictable genres i have wittnessed the danger of focusing to much on the genre itself rather then tauting the event as a fun night. d&b and house can safley be premoted as a d&b or house nights because they are an established genre with a fixed following. anything else is tricky because new punters get to caught up with their preconceptions of that given genre. with this in mind i think it would help to launch a new night with more focus on it being fun, sexy or whatever gets the girls (boys will follow) through the door. once the event is established then focus more on setting the events musical boundries. i dont think a little deception is to bad in order to get a crowd, a greater portion of the punters go out just for a good time and not to train spot anyway. i personaly feel that its a much smaller percentage of ppl who go out 'just' for the music then we think. aproach it like you were a cattle farmer, the individual will most often follow the herd.

I agree - tho I think Vibes showed us that several thousand (insert correct estimate here will go for the lineup even though there is a free 'party' at the same time that holds similar artists.

The techno community needs to remember the fact that they were called 'parties' for a reason
