Office 2010 Technical Preview

Anybody else got it?

I'm signed up to the program but the software (which looks great) has totally buggered up my system. Anybody else who has it run into any dramas?

Haven't even looked at it yet. It will still be packed with bugs as well, no release date and rumours is not until at least mid next year. Only thing Im looking forward to is the fact that I can take advantage of the 64bit option.

Yeah dude my advice would be not to put it on a production system at all, now I'm faced with either doing a mammoth re-install or to wait a month or two till Win7 comes out.

I recommend testing such things out in a VM.

You could even make a VM out of your production system and test installing beta stuff on that.

Yeah that's what I do. Totally not worth fucking your prod system over crap like this. Plus if it fucks up it takes 3secs to get the VM back to it's brand new state.

I think thats a very good idea and will do this from now on. Did the re-format yesterday and it took me 4 hours to install the 80 updates vista needs *before* it'll let me install SP1. Fail.

And why wouldn't you just install SP2 anyway?

I was following WSUS until everything was installed.
If SP2 contains SP1 its news to me, but the time to update from 1 to 2 was not very long, so maybe

Service Packs always include every critical update prior to them.

With the exception of optional stuff, that has subsequently had a critical update.
