Yeah, I think Mitchell blaming the players is pretty off. He knew they were inexperienced. I think his selections were good, but it was his job to ready them for the game, and make up for their inexperience.

I think whoever is appointed should be appointed for 4 years, until after the next world cup (with possible clauses for terrible performance, or just plain stupidity like Wayne Smith).

Everyone seems to be a bit quick to sing the praises of Henry though

Coaches get the crap if they lose, players get the glory if they win.
The public wants some blood for this loss, look what happened to John Heart. Everybody wanted him shot!!

As a rugby player for many years, I think that they have the potential to succeed and the man to take them to tthe next level is Mitchell. Stop throwing out the coaches. AB's need some consistancy..

I don't blame henry for the lions problem, he was given a hospital pass. They picked a non british coach for political reasons and the english only wanted woodward as coach and made his job impossible.

As for leaving the wales post, after the job of trying to make wales world beaters making the AB's world champion will seem very cruisey.

Am not 100% convinced about him but Mitchell HAS to go and henry is next best bet.

I don't really like Henry that much but I dislike Mitchell and his arrogant attitude more. He did nothing to promote riugby in Melbourne which is an Aussie Rules strong hold and is a prima dona. If he does get reappointed he should have performance reviews written into his contract which are enforceable and he should only be given one year at a time.

Mitchell wasn't there to help the ARU lift rugby's poor coverage in Aussie Rules country; he was there to concentrate on trying to win the RWC.

Remember the bloody ARU stole our sub-hosting rights (although admitedly the NZRU fucked it up also) so why should we care...

This is all theoretical anyway, mitchell will not be reappointed. He has made far too many enemies and without the world cup the nzrfu now need to heal the wounds they hoped the world cup win would heal. The list of people disenfranchised is long, fans, sponsors, players, media, irb, and the rugby world in general. In short the all black brand has suffered badly under his leadership and unless he goes he puts at serious risk the income of the nzrfu.
