So NZ vs Aus is awesome! Aus attacked with spin whereas NZ has a battery of 3 120kmh chicks (the equivalent would be say 90mph/145kmh in mens) who are giving the Aussies a real work over with some short pitched bowling etc.

Just reduced them to 71/4.

At least our women can bowl.

What is the story with cricket anyway? If one of these girls was putting down a Chatfield like line and length at 120kph for ten overs and could knock a useful 20 or so against any attack, could she be picked for the Black Caps??

Probably not. Most mens club sides would annihilate the women's cricket team.

England vs India had some sweet batting by England. That Claire Taylor was pounding some VERY nice shots, that straight six was beautiful. Easily best women's batting I've ever seen!

VICTORY for our girls. 2 from 2 and we're guaranteed into the Super 6 already. Look out, world!

Pretty curious that only NZ, Aus and England are even remotely good at women's cricket. What do Saffa women play?? They're rubbish at netball, hockey too?

One thing all women batsmen seem to do that infuriates me is play back to 90% of all deliveries - especially off spinners. It works if you're Tendulkar, but I think they'd be better advised to get forward more.

Really? The pace is so slow there seems to be very little risk of an LBW etc. Don't forget their reach as they come down the pitch is a LOT less than your average international male cricketer. Even with a big stride it's difficult for them to get to the pitch.

I just find it frustrating in general to watch. The amount of slow, wide half volleys that are served up is insufferable. It's almost like the women don't work on the wrist/forearm strength at all, they're terrible through the covers.

Pulford WTF. Got to about 60 and totally lost it in the head. Trying to dominate possibly, but all they needed to do was push it round for her to get a 100, and NZ to register an easy victory.

You always put more power on the ball if you're moving forward smf, look at baseball; you're using your body more than just your wrists/arms which is what you're using when forcing offside off the back foot.

Good late performance by the girls, that batting powerplay was crucial!

Not what I'm debating at all. I'm just saying they struggle to get to the pitch properly, which is why they sit on their heels.

I get your point, they're figuring it's better to get less power but more control; I reckon they should just be getting half forward and hitting on the up. Girls can't catch anyway!!

Yeah they played OK, but India were shocking. If India could catch or field we'd have struggled to win the game. There was probably 50 runs or so leaked through dropped catches and horrific misfields.

Also, we bowled 21 wides. That's SHOCKING. And only 3 of those were mulitples. So we bowled 18 physical wides... Three extra overs. We won't win a WC like that!

Positives:
- Excellent fielding from us.
- Kate Pulford scoring some runs (FINALLY) at the top.
- We look to have some good middle order talent.

Australia have to beat England and we have to lose to the hapless Pakistan in order for us to miss out on a WC final now. I'd like to it's gonna be an epic game, but it's probably gonna be the same as all the rest!

Whilst I agree on principle that it's tough for the girls to score big, sometimes the bowling is SOOOOO rubbish that they can plunder at will. Just look at the link I posted earlier. The only person to score a double century in international one day cricket is a woman.
