What is up with the no-balling this series
[quote]
177/4. Not too bad. Two more wickets and they are effectively into the tail.
[quote]
and Ryder strikes!!

Very Happy
[quote]
182/5. Ryder comes on to bowl and picks up the wicket of Yuvraj. Smile

This is looking pretty good now.
[quote]
204/6. Super sweet!
[quote]
way to throw it away Neutral fucksakes!

It was bloody tinny play from India. Their tail enders just went for it and edged and skied deliveries all over the place, but they just didn't fall in the right place.

Getting them out for around 300 was good. Around 400 is starting to get bad.
[quote]
Well let's be honest. Harbhajan's innings was probably one of the luckiest 50s you can hope to see. Toe ends, leading edges, dropped catch, skied shots... He was insanely lucky, and thus we were very unlucky.

There's nothing you can do to protect guys going hard and getting lucky over the slip corden. I still think we've had a decent day- it's started to get away from us now, but I think we''re still in a good position on this flat pitch.

Exactly. Was at the game and could not believe how many close calls the guy had. He should buy a lotto ticket. We're only a day into the match as well, with a batting lineup that's slightly stronger than the one we fielded in Napier. I'd hate to see these indian tailenders push their score up over 400 though... will be a good day today. Looking forward to getting down to the ground.

Uhh, yeah

A third man

Or a fly slip

Both well known tactics :>

I wa slooking forward to a day in front of the box watching us assemble a solid 300/4 in the day
2 wickets down already

Truman Borge sends us a chuckle: "It was absolutely crucial that India added those 16 runs beyond the 600 lead mark, that will mean the difference between losing and not, because NZ sure would've fancied their chances on this pitch at getting 601, but 617 is a tad beyond them.

:>

PS, chucked a lazy $25 on the draw @ $4.50 last night. I'm praying for rain (and some backbone).

My prediction. Guptill, Taylor, JD the man Ryder and McCullum to score big!

Music
[quote]
Phew that was lucky...

25.5 Harbhajan Singh to Taylor, no run, And Harbhajan Singh gets his man No he doesn''t Taylor is not convinced the short-leg took it cleanly. It was loopy flighted delivery dipping in front of Taylor who stumbles forward to defend. The edge drops in front of Gautam who lunges forward ... tv replays show doubt over the catch. It's one of those things .. the benefit of doubt has gone to the batsman. And the third umpire says not out. It was given out initially by Taufel, who then had a doubt, conferred with the square leg and went upstairs.

now he better make use of that life

FUCK!!!

here we go again Neutral

Laughing Holly crap!
[quote]
Ooooh, bad light stops play...

I calculate that the most overs we will have to bat tomorrow is 75... if today is the yardstick... which is pretty unlikely given the forecast. In fact, if there's any rain delays they will take 10 or so overs off (and thats assuming there'll be a shower only). I reckon we'll have to bat 50 overs and therefore are in with a reasonable chance of drawing this test.

I'd take the $4.50 I got on this result in this situation aannnny day. Mr. Green

Fuck knows what India were thinking batting for 1.5hrs this morning. They obviously have no idea how dark it gets if there's cloud cover and daylight savings has finished... lol.
[quote]
Is the Tim McIntosh experiment over?
[quote]
Come on buys, hang in there!!!

Never been so excited to see us try and eek out a draw. Forecast is for the rain to come early afternoon. Experts reckon we'd get 2.5 sessions in before that happens.

So that's 1.5 sessions or 3hrs left, all going to plan.

Odds on the draw are now $1.50 Very Happy
[quote]
100 for taylor then out... hang around Frank!!!

Puuulease

COME ON FUCKING RAIN!!!

Dark clouds looming... but nothing coming out of them. Please please please start pissing down... 6 mins till lunch.

Is it just my twisted sense of humnour ...........or is there something well LOL about a degenerate wellingtonian gambler making a score by betting on his own cities ability to disrupt a test match via weather with his absymal cricket team on the ropes. Cool Man can see opoortunities!

It's got LOL written all over it, although your angle is slightly off. My bet was based on a) India's stupidity and ego (in the desire to have all their batsmen improve their averages) factored in with b) at least 2 Black Caps able to show some backbone and the secret weapon c) my superior meteorological knowledge, which, clearly is better than the entire Indian team's and management's put together. And the TAB's for that matter.

I was going to put $100 on after a canny $5 outlay returned me a cool $825 trifecta return at Canterbury last Saturday.

Rain stopped for a bit, and now its pissing down. Game over for mine. 5pm will be the cut off I reckon, well, 4.40. Oh yeah its fucking torrential as I type.

Well done boys!

Cool

This is what I don't like about cricket. NZ was set to loose the series. Rain made it draw. Neutral

NZ did lose the series. That match was a draw though.
[quote]
This is a good example of how test cricket is the game of defeatists.. NZ smack up 600+ in 1 innings only be to be blocked for 2 days by India (over 2 innings) which somehow creates "a draw". And then in the following match NZ get annihilated with both the bat and ball and then block through impending rain to create another "draw". No wonder people quickly lost interest in this shitty unspirited version of the game and flocked towards the fairer, more competitive and conclusive format - the great ODI :p
[quote]
Rolling Eyes I hope you are taking the piss!

Tests have been awesome!

Drawn tests in which one team has to bat out the final day/day and a half creates some of the best cricket imaginable.

ODIs and 20/20s are cheap bastard children.
[quote]
The Tests have provided some great cricket??????

20/20 can fuck right off.

You mean like that degenerate test at Napier? Whatever..

Q - I'm only half taking the piss. I'll admit that the SA/Aus tests were moderately exciting. Razz
[quote]
LOL I suspect ol grinderpants was having a wee troll. ODI and 20/20 "fairer, more conclusive and competative cricket" just lol

Well what have we learned from this series

# Midedle order looks good but our openers still suck a lot. Personally I believe Craig Cumming is the best wall in the country atm, even if he is not the long term solution. Id prefer to see Cumming/Guptill

# Leaving Martin out of test sides is ridiculous, as he proved again he is far and away our best test bowler. the rest are pretty ordinary...Southee looked like a boy out there. We miss at least one strike bowler obv or we will never compete in tests. 20 wickets. etc

# Fuck NZC for tongueing the Indians backsides in providing provincial warm ups/roads-barring the Basin etc. Looking at their test averages over the series only slap happy Shewag missed out in averaging over 50. We could have produced just one greentop?

# McCullum has to be the unluckiest batsman in world cricket. he must get sawn off 1/6 or something. he also needs to bat above the likes of Franklin cos it is criminal to continously expect him to nurse the tail
[quote]
Whingeing cunts (you know who you are) Razz

You could learn a lot from me. If you like I can give you lessons?

Wink
[quote]
I think there's a lot of crap being bandied about about how good the Indians are.

Batsmen, sure.

But a bowling attack where none of the strike bowlers averages <20 is hardly "great." You compare their bowling to SA or even Aus now, or Aus 5+ years ago (McGrath, Warne, Gillespie, Kasprowicz or whoever) and there really is no comparison.

Singh is slightly better than Vettori, while Khan is no better a bowler than Martin. I'd take O'Brien over Munaf Patel, and Sharma is insanely overrated.
[quote]
Woops, <30
[quote]
lol pstu, teh awesome.

Would be cool to see Mcintosh and Guptill kept together for a while i reckon, lots of games, all we need. Cant hassle India too much, it was kind of them to leave us with some dignity, it will be a while before that amount of batting class hits NZ again.
