Who else is planning on going and what films are you excited about seeing?

Tree of Life, Melancholia, Take Shelter, Senna & Hobo With a Shotgun are just a few of the ones I will be going to.

New Errol Morris Tabloid is on my list to see. Love his stuff.
and this
We are very pleased indeed to announce that this year the Opening Night spot in Auckland will be the venue for the World Premiere of Auckland filmmaker Florian Habicht’s irresistible documentary/romantic comedy hybrid Love Story. After being told by a New York fortune teller that he should never step in front of a camera, Florian of course did just that, challenged fate and in the process came up with his fifth feature-length film to premiere at the NZIFF. The energy and delight flowing from Florian’s film will be a great way to set the Festival buzzing in 2011

My schedule is pretty extreme... 40+ movies starting with Love Story tonight : D

JUST OVER 2 HOURS TILL OPENING NIGHT! Surely there must be some others going off here?

Is the FF showing the Norwegian Troll hunting movie?
[quote]
Yes. I'm keen to go to it.
[quote]
I can vouch for it being excellent too : D

Just got back from Love Story.. enjoyed it, better opening night than last year imo (but that could just be because John Banks wasn't there to do a speech beforehand!!) Florian is quite a character.. just like he is in the movie. Really quirky whimsical doco/love-story hybrid that (mostly) works. Lead actress is a babe too and the input from the people on the street was unexpectedly funny, enriching and distturbing heh. I also now know a new way to eat cereal.. great soundtrack too

Really enjoyed Love Story - Anyone who's seen Florian's doco's (Kaikohe Demolition, Land of the Long White Cloud) and enjoyed them will be into this.

Snap shot of New York from the first person perspective. Really enjoyed the street shots and the interviews with random people on the street. Such a nice idea to have people map out the plan of the story. I hope some festivals overseas pick it up.

Personally only have a ticket to Senna, but I have been looking forward to this film for a long time. Smile
