Hey People,

I am currently reviewing my NYE 2009 options and was wondering if there is anything decent happening in or around Wellington on NYE? Google is refusing to help with this one.

Also considering renting a really sweet place at the Mount or hitting Rhythm and Vines but that will cost a lot more as I'm coming from Chch.

decisions decisions...

Cheers,

Rips.

Haven't seen/heard anything at all for NYE here Mr Rips.

Usually theres something on at Sandwiches, or down on the waterfront in one of the sheds... I'm guessing there'll be something on at Garden Club/Stage/Phoenix/Imerst

But yeah as yet nothings set in stone.

Internationals? Styles?

Bit of pain how they release the details so late.

PM me the goss. Razz

To be honest Welli is a pretty crap NYE 'destination' compared to all the other NYE events happening around the country.

Shed 6 might have something good but as you say details on that will be released pretty late.

On Wednesday the 31st of December, New Zealand’s favourite nightclub Sandwiches will step out of the intimate bar environment and saunter along the waterfront with unquestionable swagger for a good old fashioned warehouse party Wellington style.

The venue? Local institution Shed 6. The event? Toasted Sandwiches, a party destined to live in infamy as Wellington’s ‘place to have been’ this New Years Eve.

More importantly though, Toasted Sandwiches will be remembered as the place to have been New Years Day morning as the first sunrise of 2009 intertwines with Wellington’s gorgeous harbour front view to create a picture perfect backdrop to the final chapter of a night to be remembered.

This year, festivities will be headed up by two of New Zealand’s most well known, loved internationally acclaimed electronic music acts; Concord Dawn and Minuit.
Sitting comfortably on rock solid reputations forged over close to a decade of both releasing and touring music on a global basis, neither act needs any further introduction, it will simply suffice to say that respectively, their impact and influence on Drum’and’Bass and Breaks across the globe cannot be overstated.

Concord Dawn and Minuit will be more then aptly supported by local DJ legend’s DDog, Dunsta and Redbird Jr, who will take care of the opening and closing of the festivities in their own unique and unimitatable signature styles.

This New Years Eve, Sandwiches proposes a toast to you Wellington. Come on down, share a special moment with us and as always; expect the unexpected.

I hope they serve Toasted Sandwiches in the morning. That would be prefect.

Otherwise I'll be hungry the whole time and not know why.

We are looking to rent a mint holiday pad (preferably by the sea) for up to a week if you know of anything but we are open to options as well I guess.

Still hammering out the details but probably about 6 to 8 people from the 28th of December on.

yeah looking forward to this one! you're more likely to see Minuit play in Berlin than in New Zealand recently so this show at Shed 6 will be a special event. back in the country at the moment recording a new Minuit album, so expect plenty of new tunes and new gears as well as old favs! Shed 6 will be blissfully shaking its foundations and yeah, there better be toasted sandwiches for brekkie!

And here it is...

The cat is out of the bag, bets are off and all the rumours are true.

Finally, after weeks of frantic negotiation via Morse code and carrier pigeon, Sandwiches are proud to announce the confirmation of one of Aotearoa's favourite ex-pat sons, BBC Radio1/MTV Host evening DJ Zane Lowe as headliner at their extravagant New Year’s Eve party, Toasted Sandwiches.

Set within the warehousesque confines of Wellington waterfront institution Shed 6, Zane will be supported by internationally acclaimed heavyweights Concord Dawn and Minuit, and local DJ legends Ddog, Dunsta and Redbird Jr

Originally hailing from New Zealand, Zane got his break in the music industry working as a producer/DJ with iconic Kiwi outfits Urban Disturbance, Breaks Co-op and Dam Native. Relocating to the UK in 1997 to take up positions as a MTV VJ and host on London's XFM radio respectively, Zane quickly established himself as a figure in the English media world; all the while honing his skills as a formidable nightclub DJ.

In 2003 Zane was made evening host on BBC Radio 1 and has since kick-started the careers of Gnarls Barkley, Bloc Party, The Arctic Monkeys and countless others in the English market. He has collected NME's “Best Radio Show” award so many times it has been unofficially renamed “The Zane Lowe Award”.

New Year’s Eve on the waterfront. It's shaping up to be a night to remember, and here at Sandwiches we would dearly love to share it with you.
