One thing for certain about Daniel Anderson. Not only is he a good coach, but he knows how to get the best out of the poly players.

I guess he's had heaps of practice.
[quote]
Ive never had much time for Fuifui Moimoi but he was a badman last night Shocked

Eels will be VERY capable of taking out the Dogs. Im picking Eels-Storm final

Brisbane to topple St George today too
[quote]
if the dragons D up, they will win tonight.

Should be a couple of epic games next week Very Happy

Pretty fast eh?

Two good games this weekend, next week is gonna be epic. Any side could win, all of them have form.

Damn I wish I had sky... Sad
[quote]
I'm not sure about fast, but a lot more skill, like spot on passes and kicks, catching a high ball etc.

Bro, just come to mine if you can be fucked driving out to Mt Albert. Smile

Cool.

Finals footy is the best. Smile

Well I'm predicting the Storm to get over the Broncos. Despite their form, the loss of Wallace with a broken ankle will be too much for them. Lockyer and Hunt can run things in his absence but that's one less talented playmaker on the field when you really need all your crew firing on the day.

Bulldogs/Eels... I'm leaning slightly to the Eels but jesus it really could go either way...
[quote]
God I hope the Broncos can get over the Storm and make the gf.

Broncos/Bulldogs final would be fucking off the hook.

/excited 'cos am going to hopefully be at the game Very Happy

Broncos vs Eels hopefully!

What Hunt ya talking bout? The younger Hunt will be starting from what I read, they will keep KHunt at Fullback, as last time he played halves, they lost by 50 odd points. That's if he plays, and not suspended for as trip.
[quote]
Woa! The Eels roll continues! 2 players on report and Cayless most likely out though...

Hate Paramatta
[quote]
Godamn the ref loved Parra!
[quote]
Hayne gone for grand final after going in with the knees over the tryline?

Excellent game -- I started off wanting the DOgs to win, but was awed by the Eels offloading and general attacking ability all game. GO THE EELS! Razz
[quote]
I don't know... I think Hayne has a legitimate defence that he genuinely tried to get his legs out of the way. What else could he have done in that situation?

Kingston however is gone for a definite chicken wing.
[quote]
Heh, I couldn't disagree more on both counts Razz

With Hayne, I'm pretty sure you can't lead with your feet or knees to try prevent a try... I definitely think it should be taken on a case by case basis, but the judiciary has been very black and white about it this season.

With the tackle on Hannant, I don't see how that's a chicken wing tackle. Chicken wing tackles are wrestling moves on the ground. The Parramatta player just got his arms around Hannant's arms and shoulders while trying to make a tackle and then fell on him -- it's nothing like what we've seen from Mebourne over the years imo.

p.s. go the broncos! :>

Not all the offloads seemed to go backwards to me Razz and there was a foot on the line and a 40/20 that wasn't... just amongst a few bits and pieces

I don't give a shit WHO wins but I don't like it when refereeing plays such a big part Smile

Yet you like a game like rugby where the referee's interpretations govern the flow and results of the game? Confused

Yeah Gummi, watching the replay it looked awkward but I don't see what else he could have done save going for a superman leap over the top of him. He tucked his legs out of the way and tried to lead with his thighs but ended up with his knees out.

If he's out then you can write the Eels off for the final... Neutral

Well you don't tackle feet first. What was he intending to do? If he was intending to tackle the ball carrier, he should have been lower with his shoulders/head forward, or even diving to make the tackle.

Not sure what his intent was at all. I doubt he meant to hurt the guy, but it was careless.
[quote]
Wow, Melbourne are on fire!
[quote]
Vads: His intent was to use his momentum to push Goodwin out before he got the ball down. He arrived a fraction too late tho.

Picked it like a dirty nose. Broncos were awful tonight. Lockyer just can't play halfback, he likes being second receiver with a bit of space.

On this form, Hayne or no Hayne, the Storm will win the comp.

He didn't seem to be setting his body up for that. Why was he so upright?

He had the ability to pull out. He didn't. Foul.

Gotta give props to Daniel Anderson.

First year back in the NRL, straight to the GF. Not bad...not bad at all.

Having said that, Broncs didn't even show up.

As for Hayne, he will play in the Grand Final. But he may not be the best #1 on the field.

wonder if the fact that melbourne haven't had a tough game for ages is going to have an effect on them next week.

Should be a massive game! Very Happy

Good to see the NRL still has it's favourite teams and players... Any kiwis in the Grand Final? How many of them will be suspended for the tests?

kiwis in GF

parra - inu, moimoi, cayless, galuvao

melbourne - blair, lima

"Frank Endacott, Tony Kemp and Mark Graham are still the only kiwis to have coached @ NRL level"

Now that I've thought about it for a moment. That dude's article might be right if you are going to be picky since he says "coached NRL clubs" and not "coached @ NRL level" Maestro if you are considering Graham Lowe.

Oh, forgot he coached the Cowboys as well.

Was the NSWRL, and ARL from 95 until after Super League I think.

Although thats just being picky, as the experience is the same
[quote]
actually it was probably called the Winfield Cup when Lowe was coach....in which case yes hyper-pickiness reigns supreme (dates pending)

I imagine they are being picky otherwise they would have to include John Monie as well.

The Maestro said:

Most of the players didn't like him either which is why he only lasted one season, he had a habit of singling out one player for a complete dressing down at half time if things weren't going well. Not just constructive criticism either but a full on blasting in front of everyone else. There was also the wisdom of playing New Zealand's best stand off (Frano Botica) on the wing, also not having him kick on 5th tackle despite him being able to punt a ball a lot further and more accurately than anyone else in the side at the time. Phil Blake at fullback despite being a horrendous defender and very dodgy receiving kicks. Persisting with Ngamu... The list just goes on really...

Probably the worst move the club made early on though (I think it was an Ian Robson decision as Monie was still at Wigan) was allowing Henry Paul to terminate his contract and join Wigan.

Well kind of, you know how it is when you've always had something in your head you need to see it for yourself in order to realise you were wrong? Since I was a kid I'd always thought Monie was a kiwi.
[quote]
Ya I did read that article harv, and like bundy I wasnt too impressed. They are not looking for players to develop ..... but guys who are already established. Given that there is a huge hurdle to over come in terms of Super League wages vs NRL salary cap you would imagine the money would be better spent scouring random heartland games so the next SBW or Benji dont slip through the warriors grasp...as those 2 did
