Norman Jay

Following on from discussions I've been having this week about old tunes, the origins of house and how the genres crossover (and some personal recommendations) - I'd be quite keen to go see Mr Norman Jay. I admit to not knowing much about him but he sounds like an interesting guy with some interesting ideas!

Anyone whos seen him before care to comment/gurgle with praise?

Wicked! That sounds right up my alley! I've been dying to see someone who can mix genres and styles with some sort of . I'll be interested to see if it works and what the crowd response is like because I have a feeling the NY styles may not work in Auckland. We're far too anal.

Manual and Roger are a excellent support choices too.

Just a wee point, transtemporal -Norman Jay is from London, not NY.

His Good Times Soundsystem is the heart and soul of Notting Hill Carnival.

He also founded Talkin'Loud with Gilles Peterson.

Went and saw Norman J yesterday at a music festival called 'Vibes on a summers day' in Melbourne.
Norman J rocks it every one should go see him not only house bunnies he plays a wide rangeof dance tunes and likes to do some o'l skool mc'n to.

A must go see performance.

had a great time at norman jay @ grand circle, in fact no nuff of it, no where else to recover...sigh... well, next stop rob salmon @ calibre. does ne one whos the support???

Yeah, Norman rocked the party! I spent a lot of time chilling out, enjoying the music and talking to people, which was a bit of a change of pace for me. I'm glad they decided to have it at Grand Circle. It was perhaps a wee bit crowded but it was the right environment for his music.

And how was the track selection?! Man, I wish I could hear that stuff out sometimes. *sigh* Ha ha I loved that accapella of 'finally' over the top of 'flawless'. Worked surprisingly well I thought!

Normans tracks r awesome, personally i dont like "finally" before last nite, but the twisted version with "flawless" is wicked. like i said before, not nuff of it, too little time for such a talented cross-genre djs, pheew!

Fuck yeah man, my sentiments exactly. I spoke with so many people last night who were just blown away by Norman, club-kid regulars and accidental tourists alike!

Norman was fantastic. What a master!!

Cool to hear some timely scratching by the support guy towards the end. Somehow, a bit of scratchin was just right for 5am!
