I have a SonyEricsson T630 GSM phone.

I have gone through the basic set up for getting the connectivity sorted to use the Vodafone PXT and Live! stuff but I'm having problems.

ie. I can't send PXTs to anyone.

I figure it's something to do with setting shit up.

Should I go to a Vodafone outlet (a decent one, not a cowboy one) and get tehm to set it up for me?

Any advice is welcomed.

Im sure you could find something on google?

there is a guide for pretty much every phone on the website.... have you been there ?

on the Vodafone site?

I just set it up according to the closet phone I could find - the T610.

I assume it'd be pretty similar.

it should be pretty identical actually, there is only a certain amount of settings that need to be right in order to make your pxts work...

try calling customer service and get them to send you the mms and gprs settings for a t610 in a message format... if they say they can't do it they're lying... be firm.

cheers - thanks for that.

I thought the same thing - the settings for the Sony Ericsson Z600 (?) are the same too.

Must be one thing I am doing wrong.

Either go into a store, or call vodafone. Where you bought it is irrelevant.

Thanks.

What about insurance?

I have Vodafone 'phone insurance' - soes this cover any handset, regardless of where you got it ie. a non-Vodafone phone?
[quote]
Yeah insurance covers that too - the network can tell what kind of phone you were using to establish which phone needs replacing. Vodafone sales person: "It's just the technology we have right now".

WOW ... you can actually receive information from a phone - that's incredible technology! What will they think of next.....

cool - I dropped my phone and the camera is not working...

Wasn't a hard drop either.... Mad

vodafone may not insure a phone that isn't on their network...

if it was house and contents your selected company would be forced to replace what you had, but you could be pushing shit up hill to try and get them to replace a phone they haven't yet released... hopefully i'm wrong and they sort you out, but i don't think i am...

Also make sure GPRS is turned on by your GSM provider (Vodafone.) It is a Non standard VAS that isn't automatically available.

Also, like someone mentioned, get them to sms the settins to you or provide the number that auto reply sms's you with the settings. Failing that, post it in here and I'll see what I can fidn on my work intranet. (wouldn't expect them to be too different - oz/nz)

Do you mean not on their network, or one they have not approved and have not sold themselves in NZ?

Coz what the sales rep told me was that ANY phone you use to connect to their network is insured, which I specifically had clarified since I use a parallel imported phone that was never sold in NZ by vodafone.

My phone is connected to the NZ Vodafone network and I have separate phone insurance (about $6 a month) so I think I'm covered.

Anyone know of a good 'proper' Vodafone outlet in central Auckland?

The one in Queen Street that is really good is out of action at the moment (renovations).

The other ones in Queen Street are dodgey two-bit playaz....
