Morning,

One of the reps has a e66 (same software as the e71 I believe) which is set to manual sync with exchange. It can download messages but sent messages seem to sit in the outbox. Nothing has changed on the server and everything worked fine under windows mobile 5. Part of the problem is they are away and trying to talk through it over the phone is painful at best and I don't have access to another one to test or even see what the rep is looking at. I've suggested they try and find a vodafone store but theyre on the road in the south island

Any suggestions?

Google, Vodafone and Nokia websites have been no help whatsoever.

I would suggest upgrading the version of Mail For Exchange on the device.
If he can receive emails then you could obviously send it to him.
http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/mail-for-exchange
Also upgrading the firmware on the handset, but you'll need a computer for that.

Thanks for the help.

I figured - wont be able to do much till hes back at the office which of course means its not particularly usable while hes away.

Is that likely to require setting up again?

Yea, it creates a completely serperate mailbox to your existing one. Can be a bit fidgity at first, but once everything is setup, it works really well.
Just be sure to have your Exchange cert handy, as you'll need to install it on your mobile.
Some Exchange setups have it available where you can access the cert via the net. webamil.company.co.nz/certserv or something like that.

Had it working on my phone when I was at Vector and worked very well. Mail would push through usually quicker to my phone than Outlook.

Nope, it installs over the top of whichever version you have running.

FIGHT!

I figured Adamal misunderstood what i said and thought i was using pop3 or one of the default nokia mailboxes.

So i ignored him.

Did it work?

He gave up - regressed to having his emails read to him over the phone. I'll have a look at it tomorrow and see what I can see.

Let me know if you need any tips.

hrm - i cant seem to get to the compatibility and download page on the nokia and its not currently setup to connect to the computer - need to find the installer or disk.

Will have to put this off till i have more time.

I can email you the .sis file and you can install it from there.
Or if you need to install Nokia Software Updater I can send you that file also.

Ive downloaded it, its just finding time when the rep is here and im not busy with other stuff.

Cheers for the help though.

Hey JTC - am I right in saying Nokia Messaging doesn't do Exchange accounts? You need a separate MfE as well?
Also, is Nokia Messaging and Maps free for Telecom accounts or do you have to pay extra?

All for E71
[quote]
Hey, thats right, MfE and Nokia Messaging at the moment are two separate entities. Messaging is free for the moment but will be a charged service early next year, I'm not 100% on what that charge will be, but it'll be no where near the exorbitant fee RIM charge for a very similar service. MfE will still remain free.
We do offer Nokia Messaging free for 2 years on the E75 and upcoming E72.
Maps is free for a short period of time on all devices. The only thing we charge for however is Voice Guided Navigation. To get your position, search for addresses, places, plan a route and have an overview is still all free on any device though.

Thanks, finally got an E71 and was setting it up how I want it. Have put Messaging on for Gmail for now, with MfE for the corporate account - the business/personal home page switching is the simplest but best feature I've ever seen on a phone!
TBH I probably won't pay for Messaging once it becomes $$$, although it does look really nice. IMAP Gmail is more than enough for me or I'll just use the Google Mobile app.
Maps is pretty sweet, deeper but not as intuitive as Google Maps.

Update the version of Maps to 3.0. So much better than the 2.0 which comes on the phone.
Also there should be a new variant of firmware avilable on Nokia Software updater.
