Go Winnie.. tries to quietly slip the first admission through the media...Laughing

Winston Peters has owned up to a cash donation - but only after his hand was forced by the Serious Fraud Office.

So much for the SFO being biased. Without their contribution he would likely never have done this.

Mr Peters' (accounts) amendment yesterday read: "Cash donation towards Tauranga electoral petition costs - Spencer Trust."

FYI, this 40k is a gift. It is 80 times the allowable gift value (of $500) for MPs or parties. This gift is required to be surrendered to parliament or OKed personally by the PM. Which will it be?

OK.. now for 2006 and 2005 please Winnie. You'd better start sucking on those lemons.

LOL... nice call bob.

I really believe that he's gotten off way too easily. In most of our comparable political friend countries (Aus, Canada, UK) this would have been dealt with much faster and with a much bigger stick. That many NZer don't give a rat's arse about is more to do with the length of the whole thing.. (ditto for Philip Field).

Peters' contempt for the process and blatant beating around the bush is a joke. He doesn't deserve to get his massive salary.

our media moves on and so does the public on any issues quick smart, especially if they seem complicated, something Winston did a mighty fdine job of doing... pathetic attention spans shown by all here

agree that this sort of thing should be resolved in the qucikest time possible - which just might be the case here, unfortunately the media and public need it to happen in less than 30 seconds - this timeframe includes three suitable sound bites that explain the whole affair
