yeap, have to agree, was a great night out.
but:
Did anyone else notice the level of security present! (high). A mate got asked to empty his pockets 3 times in the night, and were even police wandering the crowd. People were being told not to be on others shoulders as well.
And the set up wasn't perfect (V. Ocasional jumping and feedback), but the vibe was good enough that it didn't matter.

I did also notic the extra security but was not bothered by their presence or by the police. Lighting could have been better and skipping decks were unfortunate but in the mix and vibe, it doesn't take long to get over.

sublime night....gorgeous venue and plenty of space to move....happy people and plenty of random smiles goign around...mr keys is the man....frujus taste best when dancing...security visible but friendly and a constant supply of toilet paper and hand towels...la sigh

Robbie Williams is touring Australia at the mo so doubt that was him.

Saw him in Melbourne last week, farking great concert - and I was a Robbie cynic.

yeah the door guy searched my mate hard out but luckly i was carrying his things, then the police were just struting around in there which kind of made me paranoid. Surely the coppers or the security gaurds cant just make you empty your pockets when you are already in the venue, that must violate some right. Yeah it was a wicked night though and a mate of mine handed me a ballon filled with nitrous so that was out of it. great music. but i really dont like the whole low ceiling thing at the civic and it gets fucking hot down there man.

Hot?? did they not have the aircon on or something? - it grunts and we certainly had absolutlely no problems with heat at velvet?

I am a veteran of house gigs and I doubt it gets any better than that!The guys went off, the people, were great, ice blocks rocked (thanks to whoever the guy was that gave me a Fruju) it was a perfect temperature, the toilets stayed relatively clean, security were lovely, Randall Scandal Munro was a total babe as I suspected and it basically rocked!Roll on NY!

They can search you anywhere any time under the miss use of drugs act (only police can search you,UNLESS the security gaurd gets commisioned by the senior officer at the scene, then the gaurds can search you as well as arrest you)

bugger eh, the misuse of drugs act is a peice of shit man, it basically just lets the cop's do what they want all they have to do is say they suspect you of having drugs. They use it everywhere when there is no way they have a reason to suspect you

Just my two cents.....what an absolute corker of a night, didn't feel bothered by the boys in blue at all, and when the security guards asked me to empty my pockets, we just gave him some dunkin' donuts and he was sweet!!!

Very impressed with the Winter Gardens. First time there, and first impressions last.
friendly bouncers, friendly barstaff, friendly people......just so much love.
The water filter was a great bonus as were the relatively clean tiolets..
The music was great and so was the atmosphere, once again a very successful NnU and cant wait to see these boys on NYE.

Phew! Im glad i didnt get my pockets searched! im usually carrying enough drugs in those puppies to sink a ship. must be more careful in the future and stash them elsewhere on my person.

The Winter Gardens is a bit like a maze, very confusing under certain influences, only disappointment was the lack of freaks, usually enjoy a few freaks to watch at events such as these.

The security was absolutely ridiculous, they asked to search my handbag and I ended up running off down the street. Then later in night got asked again had to run away again, lucky lucky.

As for the Robbie Williams thing-not true. It started with my friends bringing this guy to me and telling me it was Robbie Williams (did look like him) I was totally convinced it was him! Everyone was telling me it was him, I then got on a buzz where I had to inform everyone around me Robbie was in attendance. Sorry guys! When I found it wasn’t true I was at my peak and it ruined the whole buzz, gutted!

Man... what an awesome night. They played all my fav tunes, especially loved "this little light of mine" only the second time ive actually been on the floor for that song!
I had no probs with the security, infact at one stage we were dancing with one of them in the chill out room for about 10 minutes. Found them all to be very friendly.
All up that would have been one of my best nights of the year.

My biased opinion is that the night was an absolute ripper. A typical Nice 'n' Urlich vibe that is pretty much un-parralleled. Shazzy you are da bomb for giving me a sweet-band.

As for the security... you gotta remember that the Civic/Wintergarden isn't just a dance venue... that's about the 3rd ever time they've host a dance party and they have their own code of what isn't allowed on the premises (glass, weapons, etc). Sure it may not comply with party people's vices but them's the breaks. That aside, I think they are the friendliest, happiest, welcoming security staff of any major venue in the city.

PS: A film crew from 5 O'clock with Jude came to film the St John staff and how they look after the munted youth etc. One St John guy made the comment that he was bored because there was no one to look after. Nice behaviour kids.

oh yeah, that was my best night out, was cranking all night on nothing but the good time vibe!

Please tell me that the the NYE is not the last time N n' U play! As there is no way i can attend.
