Spike posted it on dance net, they don't look too much different to the std ones....

nah mainly cosmetic, except the fact its now just a button push to increase the pitch gain. Plus a new shiny finish that will be impossible to keep clean. Certainly doesnt sound as if they have improved on any of the internals.

Said something about a tourqer motor... Boy racers heaven =)
[quote]
more torque in the motor would be appreciated, but i suggest upgrading the feet to something a bit more vibration resistant perhaps like the new numark ones would be a prudent move, and well recieved from sound technitians around the world!
[quote]
They always increase the torque with their upgrades, slow but steadily...
Like to have a play, the mk 3 was much better imo than the previous available decks, as a pitch rider you really really start to hate pitch locks.
[quote]
Its not a difficult mod to remove the ball bearing (the source of the click) from the pitch fader of the Mk2/Mk3, tho best to have a professional do it unless you are competent at such things.
My first one was a bit of a butcher job as i didnt have a proper tool kit with me, just eagerness and a screwdriver heh
[quote]
Any professional adjustment fucks the decks. I hate using decks that have been recalibrated, readjusted etc. cos they start to waver etc.
[quote]
Not too bad, but enough to make you crave a pair of 3 week old decks...

+/- 16% on the MK5G!!!
[quote]
Technics decks (at least when i was selling them) were often not calibrated well fresh from the factory. I suspect you have probably had bad experiences due to poor technical work crucial.

DJPete-E - Mk2/3 can easily be adjusted to +/-16% (tho getting the scale reference calibration is obviously more difficult) - its the pitch gain control under the platter dustcover. Plenty of sites discuss it on the net. Its the pitch zero point that is the bastard to adjust.
[quote]
Also - getting rid of the ball-bearing doesn't completely get rid of the pitch irregularities around 0. There's still about a jump in there which can be fixed, but you need to start messing around with technasmalogical stuff.

After using a mates MK3's I fucking hate the zero click with a passion now! Especially on MY decks as they're old and worn and surge BADLY when just above the zero! Piece of shit ex-club decks! Pretty sure they're drunk more tequila in their time than I have! LOL
[quote]
phatstack - that is the pitch gain control you are refering to, and its easy to access under the dustcover under the platter, tho you would normally have to adjust the zero point control at the same time, which requires the bottom of the turntable being removed, and can be a bastard of job (adjusting that is, not the removing)

The pitch lock useually encourages the +/- faults around zero, so having no lock decreases the need for maintenence.
I've just noticed that as soon as you fix gear, it's a little better at first, but then generally deterioates very quickly until it's as bas as before anyhow. I'd rather just not have to go down that path to start out, probably save money buying new decks, than spending a few hundred $$ twice a year to fix decks up...
[quote]
"so having no lock decreases the need for maintenence."

ahh yeah thats the concise way to put it.

Verbosity from me again...good grief.

no lock, no pitch, no motor - the only way a dj should do it!!!!

Wind that table selecta!!
