hahah .. classic shit ... but in all seriousness ... check your temp internet files in your browser ... you may have corrupted Inet cache ... just delete all online/offline files ... and Iexplorer will re-build the index for ya .... hope that helped ...

Your best plan is to Email err.. info@biggie.co.nz and tell them your details and stuff. Save posting your personal info on the site ya know? The dude will sort it for you I'm sure.

Oh and Kerian, perhaps you could consider doing the same.. but it sounds like either a client or ISP problem, maybe something that is outta the biggie domain. State whether your using dial-up or LAN access, Operating system, browser manufacturer and version, what color is your hair etc etc.

Well when Nutscrape starts making products that actually work the way the HTML spec says it should, more sites can start supporting it. I'm with Mike and his techs in making the site IE friendly...I know that when we were trying to make our site work in Nutscrape, our man gave up in frustration. Use IE6. I haven't had it crash yet.

Just out of interest, the browser stats for us say:

IE (All Versions) 89.6% (29.1% v5.x, 70.8% v6.x)
Unknown 5.8%
Netscape (All Versions) 3.8% (98.5% v4.x, 1.4% v5.xx)

I agree. I've been I'netting for many years now, and was initially a dedicated Netscape fan - refused to use IE. However, then Netscape turned into a bloated piece of shit with Communicator I switched to IE.

In my experience, it's faster, loads pages more accurately, and they look better as it (as kris_b says) accurately follows the HTML and CSS spec. Netscape is way behind on the CSS front, which is just pathetic, really.

IE6 is good - the only time I've had it crash was when opening a Word document within the browser - _ blame dodgy MS Office plugins for that.

Yeah, it's a piece of shit. I got into doing some webdev stuff, just casually on a few hidden practice sites at the start of the year, and I actually started reading the HTML 4.0, XHTML 1.0 and CSS specs on w3.org. Then I copied their reference code and tried some stuff in both IE and Netscape, and it would never work in Netscape.

Firstly: they adhere to the spec even more badly than MS do. Secondly: they were way behind in CSS, which is the most powerful thing around.

Plus (at least back in March) they don't/didn't support the groovy scrollbars you IE5+ users should see to your left. *grin*

Ugh. Maybe IE didn't support them until IE5.5 anyway. Regardless, 5.5 has been out for ages, and IE6 kicks ass.

I used to use netscape on the macintosh and it was all good but its not optimized for x86 processors and subsequently runs like a dog on Wintel machines. Hence I use I.E. but only cos its fast and bill has us by the balls. You want to talk about invasive? Wait til I.E. 6.0 comes out on XP. Absolutely diabolical.

Standards-support-wise, I think both netscape and I.E. are horrendous. Both have chosen to use their own stupid versions of tags as well as intermittent support of HTML specs and CSS. Fucken rude ass. DHTML? Forget it. Its just a cruel joke to send you to an early grave.

The ONLY browser that has implemented ALL the recommendations in CSS2 is Opera 5.0 and how much of a market share does that have?

Im useing IE6 with XP Corp edition ... and it works fine... I do alot of web stuff and the move in general is towards IE ... (in the corp world anyways) I test all pages on IE4.0 upwards and also test them on Netscape (various versions) what you have to understand is that netscape use differnt tags for frames and tables... its a trade off use netscape and get a page operating like crap or use the more advance features that IE browsers support ...

IE has finally sort it shit out and is pretty good (Fast, easy to use etc etc )

The main reason people have problems with IE version of browsers is all the bullshit they load onto there PC's that is not "quite" compliant with proper API programming, they go to upgrade over the top of this and well... it causes most (if not all) crashing ... cept I found if you have a dodgey GFX card that is not 100% DirectX compliant it will give IE5+ screen probs .... anyway

If you guys have not looked at XP .. check it out .. it basically kicks the ass off 98,ME,2000 shit loads faster ... I run several PC's on XP from laptops to high end sound/GFX editing workstations .... and I have not had a problem yet

So they ended up deactivating the "Smart tag" functionality they were going to put into IE 6? I haven't kept up with the release candidates but some of the press for IE 6 was pretty bad.

I think the differences between IE and NS extend a little bit past different implementations of tables and frames though. Try Javascript methods and CSS support. Try the same browser versions on different platforms.

I'd rather that people just stopped using NS (and browsing the web on Macs) altogether. That would really make my day but its not going to happen unfortunately. Until that golden day, I still have to support IE 4.0, NS 4.04 on Windows and NS 4.04 and I.E. 5 .0 on the Mac and above. Why do we support Macintosh? Because all those CEOs and seniour execs went out and bought I-Macs. Bastards!

Ack, we just state the 'minimum requirements' as IE4 and above. Saves a lot of hassles!

Has anyone got both installed? Caused a whole heap of headaches in my experience. Its the whole 'IE5 is an intergral part of windows' thing.

I got both installed on my machine at work. I think I'll have a look at the site in Netscape tomorrow and see what its like.

Yeah, agreed - Opera has the most rigid support, but since most sites are designed to work with IE's implentation if the CSS spec (which is close-ish to the authentic spec in my experience) it does render HTML slightly differently than IE. I objected to Opera due to all the built in shit they are offering these days, such as e-mail and IM programs. Gawd, I already have ICQ (and was forced into piece-of-dogs-bollocks MSN) installed and don't want any more.

Talking about bollocksy software, argghh, I love the 7-12MB of RAM ICQ takes up when fully running. Lovely. Sitll, good functionality, and reliable enough for me - and free, so I aint complainin that much.

ICQ clone ... use Trillian ... it is minus the SMS and doesn't AutoAway ... but it doesn't lock up the PC and is AdLess !! ohhh and its got funky skins

I have a different question... How do you log off. I could log in at 9.00am. Close the site at 9.15...but it will still show that I'm logged in hours and hours later...

Click on NEWS under the menu and down the right-hand side there should be a log-off button... this will on be there if your already logged in ...

Nemisis: Yeah, it doesn't have file transfer, and it has a damn annoying "chat", MSN-style talk system, which I despise. Also, it is just as bloated as ICQ, and I have dll-hacked the ads out of my ICQ anyway. (And you can skin ICQ as well pretty easily, I just choose not to)

Anyway, Trillian is good as you can do MSN, IRC and AOL in the same program, which is kinda cool. If it wasn't for that ugly chat interface, no file transfer, and no SMS....

Yeah, indeed. Hmm, do any of the Wellington people know who the chick is who's always talking photos of stuff in Studio9 and Sub9? She's at everything, and I guess she's probably working for the S9 people or the promoters, but I saw her at Dark Forces as well. She's quite short and has dreads (and always a big smile) and has a bigass camera w/flash. I'm wondering where the photos go to, as I've never seen them.
