It's charging it... but it won't see it. Plus i don't have the "do not disconnect" sign on the ipod.

First time i have plugged it into new mac... disc utility won't see it either.

Tried googling but couldn't find anything...

Any suggestions?

There's your problem. It's too old. What, you expect your new Mac to take that seriously? :>
[quote]
Have you tried shuffling your songs?
[quote]

It might have run out of Magenta, or maybe Cyan.... I'd replace those first and try again

Go into a store, try it on their mac. Same problem? Try their cable. Report back that yes, the cable was slightly fucked.
[quote]
the cable is fine... it works with other ipods.

Sweet cheers spike, use those forums quite a lot for imac & fcp related problems.. will give them a try,

try letting the ipod run all the way down or do the reset trick (which i forget atm). Then try again. And maybe even try a new cable if you can.

Yes isn't that the most stupid fucking annoying piece of shit ever? And you don't download an update, no you have to download the WHOLE FUCKING PROGRAM which gets bigger every fucking update. I'm sure there are a bunch of mactard apologists who have no idea that this is not normal..
[quote]
Well it IS normal in their world. :>
[quote]
Yeah Apple really FAIL when it comes to updates. Guess they figure everyone in the world has unlimited bandwidth limits.
[quote]
If you can afford Apple hardware, you can afford decent bandwidth imo Razz

I'm sort of expecting a new itunes to be released that is a complete rewrite, so will probably be a lot more modular and handle tasks better. There is currently probably a lot of very old creaky code.
Reason being is that it's the only remaining OSX application that is still carbon, not cocoa and there is some writing on the wall with carbon.
[quote]
I assume we'll see that come iTunes 10. Finder only just moved to Cocoa in Snow Leopard, you'd hope one of their flagship products quickly follows suit.

It's not the only Carbon app remaining though - Office, Adobe CS4* and Final Cut Pro are still lagging, along with smaller stuff like FrontRow and DVD Player. Lack of 64-bit surely must hurt CS4 and FCP? I can defiantly see a performance boost running PS 64-bit here on Windows.

*Lightroom is Cocoa though.
[quote]
yeah Photoshop & Premiere Pro CS5 on OSX will be 64bit. Adobe apparently found out with everyone else at some World Wide Developers conference that Apple were not continuing development of Carbon x64. Result was a total rewrite of Photoshop for mac and x64 CS4 only being available on windows.
