network dramas

Help, we have a laptop that keeps getting kicked of our network every 5 mins or so. Then it takes a shit load of fucking around to get back on again. There are several other computers on the network (wired and wireless) and there is no drama there. So its a problem with the laptop.
Running windows 7, it keeps saying "local access only" - internet not connected.
Any ideas? Im going batshit insane here.

My laptop very occasionally shits itself in a similar manner, and I'm pretty sure it's the wireless card drivers. Either check for updates to those (could also try downloading drivers, uninstalling existing then installing fresh ones after a reboot), or the other thing that worked for me was a reinstall of Win7.

checked the tcp/ip settings?

sometimes if the husband and I are both on our laptops next to eachother it kicks us both off. I think its the universe telling us to spend less time on laptops while in the company of another person*

*disclaimer, i dont actually think the universe can "talk".

shitty wireless cards and/or routers cause this problem in most cases. (rarely it's a problem with the network layer of a windows install)

I tend to use wireless technology all from the same manufacturer and I never have these issues anymore
