Need help connecting a printer...

to the home network.

I bought a laser printer through tardme, it has a HP JetDirect network card, so I plugged it into the router and thought it would just show up on the network. But it doesn't. Printed the spec page that gives the IP address, but that goes nowhere...

Am I doing something wrong??

First step - figure out how to set the IP of the JetDirect to something in the same range as the rest of your network.

Second step - should be able to configure it as a standard TCP/IP port.

I can't remember is Vista is the same, but in 7, open the Add Printers tool > add local printer > create new port > standard tcp/ip port > enter IP address > annnnnd follow the wizard from there because I can't go any further without actually doing it

Whoohoo!!! I managed to reset the IP and from there I could get get into it's admin page and print a test page too!
That deserves a beer kris, it was really fucking me off!
