Well I was thinking that i have just spent 2 weeks on a tune and now i can't finish it cause my sequencer keeps crashing randomly!
Even if i reinstall go back to earlier versions, later versions of both the vst and sequencer etc etc.. it didn't make any difference.

After doing a bit of research, it seems a shit load of people all over are having problems with Native Instruments Massive Vst, and their sequencer programs.

What happens as after a certain amount of time it will just crash the program or lock up. It has happened with Ableton Live, Logic & Cubase too.

When the massive.dll is removed it works and the program is restarted but will have no use of the vst.. so definately a problem with the vst. Its aparently been happening from its very first release. and i'm told it happens to quite a few Native Instruments vst's in certain configurations.

Anyways I found a way to fix it!
either 1.) stop using the vst (lol), or 2.) move the 'massive' database files somewhere and reopen the sequencer, let it scan the vst's again, recreate the database and bingo.. it works without crashing...

database files are found in: C:\Documents and Settings\****\Local Settings\Application Data\Native Instruments\Massive

this might be completely useless to most of you but hey, if i save just 1 person from sticking their dick in a vice like i almost did its worth posting.

Thanks heaps mate...I happened upon this thread yesterday and thought thats interesting, massive isn't playing up for me....then sure enough last night started crashing...applied fix, good as gold. I'd say you saved me a few hours/days/weeks of troubleshooting and yelling at the computer. Ta.

Is this a problem that will re-occur over time again? or does removing the db file once fix it for good?

na it happens every now and again... i've had it happen about 5 times now. but no stress, just remember to frequently save your work so it doesn't crash and you loose shit.

I've got into the habit of rendering the synth out and reimporting as a wav, then i can ditch using the VST altogether once i'm happy with it.

Has anyone solved this problem with Logic? Im unsure as to what the database file is....I've tried moving the location of Massive but it isn't solving the problem...... Trying to produce an album for my third year of uni, this problem is making it a complete nightmare...... major thanks if anyone can help. X

Have you tried lodging a support ticket with NI?
[quote]
also dealing with a NI Massive problem here, and since it's my number one used VST plugin i'm desperate for the solution, which NI can't give me for some reason..
I run vista with ableton live 8
When I open Massive nothing appears to be wrong, but as soon as I touch one of my LFO controllers it crashes Massive & Ableton. Same thing happened in other sequencers. I haven't really tested if it happens with other controllers/buttons/whatever too, but I use the LFO controllers in every sound I make..
I tried deleting the database file, but this didn't solve the problem..
Is there anybody out there having the same problem and maybe the solution to it?
thanks in advance!!

@Vtls

I'm having the same problem as you except I'm running on XP. I also tried deleting/moving the database file without luck, unfortunately. I'm still searching for another possible solution since I like using the vst.
