I hear whispers that it is on again, February 2010.

Can anyone confirm? Or deny?

(Assuming anyone still comes here!)

i havent heard anything about this, yet.. but on this tip, you need to keep the weekend of the 7 nov free.. along a similar vein, wairarapa, a smattering off wellis best djs and some more things that are under wraps atm.

lock in it, trust. Cool

I have a feeling "checkpoint charlie" has something to do with this? from back in the day when all the pill pooppers use to hangout in the wairarapa bush lol.

Mumuland predates Checkpoint, same crew, give or take

It would be a most welcome return if it did make a come back.

The Forest Pumps. Feb 13, 2010 would be a day to keep free. Definitely gonna be bound for this one.

This talk of Checkpoint Charlie reminds of the wet one - when Rabbit in the Moon played an indescribable performance. Totally blew me away. Remember some dude got dragged up on stage and they made him kneel down and put a welding mask on him. Then proceed to use an angle grinder on the glass front, creating myriad sparks. Great for the audience. Not so great for the 'volunteer' - he'd dropped a wee sandoz 45 minutes before this. Smile

I scored the broken tree vantage point that night; the best part of that forest. There is something very special about that tree.

Oops, now been informed it is not to be.

All bets off.

OK, next?

(While I hate spreading rumours, I'm not really sure what else to do with them).

Just to set the record straight. YES! The Forest is on at the same Wairongomai venue Feb 13th 2010. NOT Wellington Anniversary weekend as has been in the past. It has NOTHING to do with CheckPoint Charlie but some of the worker ants and from that show & 2 of the 3 original MUMU Masters have joined together to take it back to its roots when she was known as MumuLand. Its not a public mash up where anyone who has $50 and a ride over the hill can attend. You need to know the people who take on this massive effort in order to be invited to join us. If you know anything about the MU you will know that this event has the BEST tech kit you will ever see outdoors in this country. Driven by Welliy's top DJ's and awesome REAL VJ's doing things with projection that will have never been attempted outdoors. Wish you were here.

we used to hear about this when we were younger - mumuland & checkpoint charlie - and the older crew used to frequent the forest...we leaped on tickets when the oportunity presented...not sure how easy or otherwise it is to get them but in any case we have a wee crew and i can't freaking wait. screw the 7's, give me the forest.

I dont come on here anymore but I have to say...

THANK YOU to every single person (Directors, light techs, riggers, vjs's, operators, djs) who plays a part in making this event what it is. Ive been going over that hill since the mid 90's and have seen so many amazing set ups and sights but I have to say that saturday nights was right up there with the best.

The amount of hard work and dedication needed to make this sort of event happen is far beyond what most people could comprehend, especially when you factor in the unpredictable weather we have been having lately. Taking huge sound rigs, generators, screens, light and lasers into the bush and getting them set up and adequately waterproofed is a job I wouldnt wish on my worst enemies but every time they make it work better than the last.

The dj booth was better than most clubs I have played at (Best monitor set up EVERSmile) and would have kept us well and truly dry had mother nature decided to be a slut, but she didnt Smile IA tiny bit of light drizzle just added to the effect of the myriad of multi coloured lasers hanging amongst the trees.

I hope some of the lucky people who came over can post up some pics or video footage as I dont know how to make vids from my DV cam Sad

So to all who helped put this on, take a bow...you deserve it Smile
