i'm just fucking around with my turntables at the mo' & also downloading some mp3's.

my speakers on the computer are puss so i just ran it thru the mixer with my recording cable & bob's ur uncle.

sounds like it would be fun to mix in a couple of mp3's into my sets at home except no pitch adjust.

have any of u guys tried this?

do any of u know of any mp3 software with pitch adjustments on it?

I write quite a few to CD, work sweet.

Make sure you only use mp3s with high bitrates -the can sound pretty weak and thin otherwise (due to the psycho-acoustic compression algorhythm used to shrink it from 40MB to 3)

i would but haven't got the cdj1000 yet. should be getting within about 3 weeks.

so at the moment will just have to try just & run them straight from the computer into my sets which i think might be harder than it looks!

while you're at it?

Razz

Tape Player, you think that's old - I've seen some people play with records, like back in old days - remeber them?*

How many times have you had this conversation with some 30 something thats been in a fallout shelter since 1982 and seen a DJ for the first time - ever. Me? I've had 1.
[quote]
yeah i get that all the time.

"gizza a look at that, i haven't seen one of these since the 1980's" &

"how are u gonna play that, do they still sell record players"

old people, go figure.

theres gotta be some somewhere out there that can adjust mp3 pitch real time.. might just have to look around pretty hard.. from a technical stand point its not really that hard to do.

Just DONT try to play Mp3s on a club sound-system, because they DO sound like crap! Mp3s (regardless of the bitrate they are encoded at) usually sound fine on your home system, but can really cause some major shit on a decent rig (some of the side efects of the massive compression used are: loss of dynamic range, harmonic distortion (esp around the 12KHz+ range), degradation of stereo imaging (or complete loss), muddiness around the 40-80Hz range, and basically just a general crappy sound)... which is magnified by the size of the system. I once tried playing a sly Mp3 off CD at a large gig and I had tech-guys tapping me on the shoulder within 30 seconds asking what the hell was up with the music, because it was causing all kinds of weird shit with their VU's & limiters & stuff... I guess the moral of the story is to just go buy the 12" if you like it eh?

Disco Stu traktor does it all,

pitch shifting, auto bpm detection and matching, filters, kill switches, digital scratching, reverse playing, cue points and looping. Best thing about it is that its got keyboard hot keys for everything so you arent just limited by your mouse.
