Anyone using this? I've never really used Mozilla before, and so far, I'm very, very impressed. I've just installed it though, so I'm getting things customised etc. It imported all my IE favourites which was a nice touch.

yeah im using it. good program still has a problem loading some sites eg www.avault.com ....
[quote]
hmm so it does. Though I wonder if that's an issue with the code rather than the browser Confused

Either or, it doesn't work, so maybe Mozilla needs to support sloppy code like IE Very Happy
[quote]
well yeah, i assumed that people would know that heresy Smile

there arent really any browsers that cant render pages correctly its typically the crappy code of the website Smile
[quote]
yeah gd point Smile

or they cant be bothered supporting the .05% of the population who use something other than internet explorer Razz

its 3% AB Smile

heh... 99% of everything I say is made up on the spot... most of it has some factual basis though Razz

haha, is it just me or did avault.com just start displaying properly in Firefox...

I've been a non-IE user for a while now, and managed to convert a few people over too. Started off with Mozilla, the switched to Firebird/Firefox. The only that that really bugs me are a) Biggie's menus not working properly, but thats again a code issue that is fixable and b) the odd site that doesn't work, again a minor issue.

Oh, and the Firefox Download Manager sucks badly on low end hardware, it's to do with the way when you add something, it fades in with alpha blending, seems to be better in Win2K than on XP.

Best part is the distinct lack of spyware and browser hijackers I have now.

Good times can be had with the Tabbed Browser Extention, lots more nifty options for tab navigation. I can go through my topic reply notification emails and just go 'click click click' on the links and then switch to FF and have multiple tabs sitting there for quick review. It is a little buggy at times however.

Also grand is Ctrl - and Ctrl + for making fonts smaller or larger. I use + all the time on Biggie. Oh, and type about:config into the address bar for all manner of extra hidden options.

i've had IE for like ever... never had spyware in my browser... ?

how do you get it ?
[quote]
Why would you not want to use internet explorer? What's wrong with it?
[quote]
apparently it's microsoft... so it's bad...

I follow the philosophy:

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
[quote]
So there aren't any real benefits from using it?

Just snob-factor?
[quote]
well it does have security flaws (which can be easily updated) and it doesn't do multiple website browsing, but you need to be proficient with alt+tab if you do that.

It has some disadvantages, but it's good if you are a moderate internet user.
[quote]
Tabbed browsing is cool and useful, the taskbar doesn't get as cluttered.

The inbuilt download manager isn't too bad, though I dunno if it's as good as the third party ones that are available (MassDownloader, Getright etc)

Will have to use it a bit more to find the other cool features..
[quote]
i just like the fact that if it does crash it wont take windows with it....... cant run malicous scripts on it andi dont have to download patch's once a month for it Smile
[quote]
Heresy: it's not much of a download manager per say, I can never get the pause/resume function to work for example, and it doesn't do any of the fancy stuff that GetRight et al do. But hey, I don't like that kinda thing anyway, especially in these days of decent bandwidth.

Afterburner: "Moderate" internet users are probably the worst off with IE in my experience, because they are the ones most likely to click on OK when they get that little box popping up saying "would you like to install this bollox piece of software that we are going to pwn your computer with"

I'm seriously considering switching all our users here to FireFox.

I define moderate users as those who know what they are doing on the internet Razz

I prefer myie2 to firefox
[quote]
i am rating firefox, since like a couple of versions ago it has proved to be real stable. the built in popup blocking is great.
the extensions are great - addblocking

its not fully compatible with microsofts take on javascript and it doesn't render non-compliant html like IE but this is a small price to pay...

I've been using the mac one for over a year now (I think.) went to netscape, then mozilla and love it (think it was Smiley that suggested it.) It's occassionally buggy, but for the most part great.

The biggie menu's playing up suck, but that's about it. Smile
[quote]
I've started using it as I am dabbling with linux and stuff, figure might as well give mozilla a whirl too Smile

Really like it, but a lot of the websites I use for work don't display properly in it, so I still keep myie2 around Smile
