Known for his precision mixing, rib tickling basslines and quirky synths Mowgli has quickly gained notoriety for cultivating a heavy bass and synth sound that has breathed life back into stale and generic club music with his trend setting sound.
For one night only Mowgli drops into Be. Nightclub to test the infamous Be sound system on Saturday the 23rd of January.
Mowgli an Italian born dj and producer, who despite being only 25, has been making music now for ten years. Having started at just 15, making beats for local MC’s in Northern Italy on a cheap keyboard and sampler. He was fascinated by Hip Hop culture, and starting out by making graffiti, but very soon realised that creating music was the direction for him. At 18 he moved to Bologna and became immersed in the illegal rave scene where he developed a love for Drum and Bass, releasing his first record on the Teknomobilsquad label.
Then in 2003 he started his own label Touchresponse with his long time friends, and fellow producers Clark Able, Leg.No and Baunz. The first release was a big success, followed by many others on labels such as Audiotrix and Relief . However, always looking for new directions and to expand his musical boundaries he began to experiment with House, but his time spent producing Drum and Bass left him with many elements to his sound that make it instantly recognisable. In particular the squelchy trademark bass sound and “bounciness” of his productions. His first remix was Scatterbox by Soul Of Man on Fingerlickin’, after which he produced several releases for Mantra. As well as some more acclaimed remixes for a variety of Italian artists.
Fast forward to 2009, and Mowgli having moved to London to up the ante somewhat, hits the ground running with an amazing bootleg of “Do It Again” by the Chemical Brothers and " Satisfaction" by Benni Bennassi, putting him on the radar for Radio One with plays from Pete Tong and Annie Mac as well as XFM, it has also set the blogs alight. With the promise of one new bootleg a month, expect more unofficial remix action. As well of course as the remixes he has been commissioned to do in Jan alone, which include “Lazy” by X-Press 2, “Council Estate” by Tricky from his new album, Simian Mobile Disco “Its The Beat”.
Mowgli's new EP Nu Skool is already blowing up around the world as one of the heaviest sellers on Beatport at this current time.
Make sure you come to Be. Night Club to witness the man himself as he is not one to miss for the start of 2010!
