playing at coherent and support is me, darin king, mile kuen and kitt. Kitt'll be doing an opening live set of minimal dubtep types stuff.. should be a great night!
[quote]
if kitt's there I'm there ;/

If you are a fan, or interested how he gets his sounds i recommend his website:

www.monolake.de

A particular favourite is this bit of humor in under the Cern vinyl release (which i have of course... *ahem*):

"Ridiculus promotion blabla: "Everyone who listened to the latest monolake album "momentum" told us to release the opening track Cern on vinyl. Here it comes. The vinyl version is slightly modified and is up to 30% more efficient on dancefloors than the original. We have been testing it live and it works. Buy now and get a limited copy in white vinyl."

Very Happy

Wicked
Nice local support too - good to hear some dubstep is on the agenda as I think Monolake would cross over nicely to the fans of the more warped work in that genre.
[quote]
He was awesome in Melbourne.
[quote]
If anyone want to get a taste of Monolake, I recommend the Momentum album. Its kind of like the Plastikman Sheet One vibe - and that is a great thing to me Smile

Layering Buddha was an hour long track he posted up for free on his site midway through last year. Not there any more but newer stuff is..
http://monolake.de/downloads/free_track.html

The track itself was from a live performance, all ambient, lots of deep drones, crackles, hisses, pops clicks and river noises! In other words, sounds we all love. I think some of the sounds were generated with this machine -

[quote]
was a great gig. i like the changes the club has made, robert got a nice crisp sound out of that system.

was good to meet you fotoman
[quote]
Good night! My eyes were constantly drawn to the hypnotic flickering of the Monodeck.. And was sounding very nice (my appreciation to everyone involved in that!).

Top notch set from Wilberforce too, just the type of deep dubstep I am feeling at the moment, I don't suppose it was recorded/he has a similar set up somewhere that I could grab?
[quote]
great night. it was amazing watching robert jam with the monodeck without even a single glance at his laptop screen.

its the sorta stuff i love too. there's a set of his here http://substep.com/2008/02/08/substep-mix-feb2008-by-wilberforce/

i know this is a bit last minute but ive just found out rose and i can bring a couple of people to roberts lecture tomorrow from 12.30-2.30 at MAINZ, so if theres any ableton afficionados out there, give me a buzz on 021 592111 (ill be up til about 10.3o tonight) or tomorrow morning, sometime after 9.30am. and the talk is not entirely ableton, its quite philosophical as well..
[quote]
one more thing... if any of you guys are coming to Layering Buddha, bring a cushion to sit on... rose and i can get old of a bit of stuff but im not sure how much at this stage
[quote]
cheers daev! downloaded. great night that was.

was choice when he faded out the music to finish his set and someone said "play some more"

Robert - "ok" and carried on.
[quote]
he also hung around for a good part of darren's set
[quote]
Mike not in to your photos NR? what a shame Smile
[quote]
haven't posted any yet and still working out how to but they may yet arrive when I get it sorted
[quote]
it did look like you had some good ones. minus tonsil shots
[quote]
Was a good night.
Good to see you Daev and Mel
[quote]
Really nice live act, and so dancy with the ambiental tunes! Robert said, he wasn't thinking after the peformance when I asked him what he thought about the DJ playing after him (always difficult after a live act, imo, isn't it?). He must have been very exited!!

See ya at Steve Bug's gig, guys!
[quote]
was a wicked night indeed top sets from you all. monolake was awesome. was good meeting you too sander.
[quote]
Layering Buddha tonight was a very nice coda apart that is from the discordant second set that sent everyone fleeing from the room or covering their ears. Just so not appropriate to the tone set by Rose beforehand.

Awesome space to set it in too and I really enjoyed that sound stage.

I'm having trouble with the zip

here's something to whet your appetite in the meantime

looks like my set didn't pass Mike's critical eye or was too out of date or summit
[quote]
photos - where?
[quote]
they were supposed to be up here but don't worry you're not in them
[quote]
good pics!
[quote]

that's sooooooooooo cool. did you take that?
[quote]
Heh, yeah was just going to post the same thing about that pic. Looks like the monodeck is beaming in from outerspace (in fact at some points it sounded like this was the case).

There's also one of me looking moody behind a pillar.
[quote]
yeah daev all came from my little W5 Sony
[quote]
rad. any chance of getting a high-res copy?
[quote]
Nice photos. Not the squeaky clean shots we normally see, but a lot more, well... soul?
