I heard things at MF will be much the same for now, but just shanon & charles are gone.

If your gonna hold an event down here you have to have it at catalyst, there the best people to deal with down here and stay open the latest as well.

Catalyst is definately not a hardhouse club, it has way more Breaks & DnB. It's more run like a venue when those hardhouse gigs are on. (Well thats how I understand it.)

Forest: Detour has been on a couple of times at catalyst, there is a small following for progressive and it would be the venue to pick in hamilton.

A friend of mine went to monkey feather on Saturday night and said that it was going off. Maybe a change for the better aye!!!
If your gonna run a club at least treat your customers with abit of respect, something that the guys that used to run Monkey Feather didn't do. Plus who wants to go to a dirty, smelly hole. I found that you used to stick to everything up there, the seats the floor, what a joke.

I used to work there in 2001.....it was great then....always packed out.

I had such a great time there...even when i was working!

only one of em was gay. my ex knew the owners quite well apparently. the gay one was meant to be annoying.

Sounds like Saturdays gig was good, for all involved... heard props going to the new owners for hosting their guests well.

But sounds like we got the gig in Roma for around August 8th.

Friday is the big night at roma... due to fridays being open till 5am! and generally only 3 or so on saturday (blimin councils! )

I talked to the new owners and they've been flat out getting ready because of the takeover. Plus what bluvinyl said. Give them a call, I think they're pretty keen for new dj's.

I was not impressed with Monkey Feather in the weekend, Getting asked for ID!!!! - I suppose the new staff will work out who everyone is soon enough.

I just take it as a complement!!!

I got about 6 free drinks around town, just by lugging my records around and talking to managers... I guess they took pity on me with a 30KG bag on my shoulder. I must look old and haddit , as i dont even get the ID question at the supermarket!

I am 25 and get asked for ID. Even at the supermarket. Argh!

yeh same, I take it as a complment, its when they stop asking for ID that you your old.

I have to laugh at the young tossers that cop a major attitude at the door when they get asked for ID. The only ones that have a tantrum about getting asked generally only turned 18 that month !!!

Yep, had a look up there the other night... seemed the hardhouse & hard trance were the flavours of the night. Tho, hamilton was a bit quiet that night... think everyone was squeezed into Liquid!

Hopefully they will drop the gimpy trance thang. Nice to hear a bit of house up there tho!

Catalyst - cool club... bit noisy for the DJ tho. Perfect for a hard nakka hooooover ride!

Interesting, IMO Monkey Feather has a mix of mainstream & a dance crowd. The mainstream crowd definately passing more $$$$ over the bar, which keeps the boss happy & the Djs paid. I for one do play some "cheesy edged" & "Gimpy Trance" up there, it caters for the mixed crowd who can relate & dance to it with everyone else, a more decerning dance crowd may object to the "hits or Cheese" being banged out, but from my experience if you play an anthem, or some gimpy well known trance 9 times out of 10 they love it!!!
I guess if there is a handful of djs in the crowd commenting on the cheesy content and 200 other people in the crowd loving it, i can live with playing it & chances are I get to play there again & the bar benefits from a good nite.
You are right, the club has heaps of potential, Mike the new owner is a bloody nice guy who is keen like all of us to see it grow.
I enjoy playing in Hamilton, on a good nite some of the best crowds around.

Yeh, Mike & his brother seem to have some good ideas and big aspirations for the place... cant wait to see what may unfold at "good old dirty old" monky feather. Hopefully a name change is whats needed to make the general public have another look ?????

I played there again last night and it was qutie an enjoyable night..

Played 12-3.15... started off happy trance ( protect the innocent, guide me god, calling your name, cloudless sky etc etc ) and moved up from there..

The numbers were a bit down but there was a realy good vibe to the place through out the night...

They've got some speakers you can actualy monitor off now which make life sooooo much nicer

Theres also brand spanking new set of Mark 5 1200s... the ones with the blue leds that go to +16...

Onwards and upwards is say !!
