Sup biggies, finally got my pc upgraded a month or so ago. I've been stashing away a bit of coin for a new monitor and have started looking at options.
Looking at widescreens 22"+ - 24" would probably be ideal but if there was a good deal on a bigger model I'd def consider it. Mainly for gaming (on and offline) and the odd movie. New pc has HDMI and that 'other' pin connection (better than vga - not sure of name?) - there seems to be a shitload of choices out there....
Saw some good deals on elive.co.nz for the Viewsonic brand (in particular a widescreen 24 LED full HD). We have Viewsonic at work and they seem to be pretty good - would be keen for advice or suggestions on monitor biggies have recently purchased or checked out (inc who is selling em)
I have dell screens in both 24" 1900x1200 and a 22" 1680x1050. I generally prefer the 22" for gaming as the graphics card doesnt really do full res justice.
Samsung make good screens too.
Unless you are particularly picky most screens will do what you need fine and you shouldnt be paying much over $300.
They're good quality, and they're South Korean so maybe if we buy lots of their monitors they'll send more people to this part of the world to manage things, and bring their hot daughters with them.
@bob, yeah I'd been thinking about $300-400 for a 22"-24" will have a look at that link too
Nice logic Pechora, happy to support the import of fine fillies! My uncle has been involved in Samsung for 30+ years so we've always had a good inside connection... too bad he's retired! had some classic drinking stories from his visits to Seoul and stuff.
Hadn't considered the warranty factor at this point Kris, probably would have come up once I'd settled on a particular model tho... onsite would be funny in my case... excuse me can you please send a tech out to Cannons Creek, Porirua please? hallo!!? hallo!!?
Will have to check my graphic card specs again to make sure I get a screen that can handle the res (or the other way around)
