The PC Company restructures amid tough trading conditions
09 September 2003

The next 48 hours would be "critical" for nationwide computer manufacturer The PC Company which has temporarily ceased operating while it restructures, managing director Colin Brown said today.


The Hamilton-based company, with offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua, Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch, confirmed the closure yesterday.

Mr Brown said in a statement he hoped the restructuring would be finished by the end of the week.

The next 48 hours would be "critical" to the company's future, he said.

The closures were the result of a "tough 12 months" in which sales for New Zealand's largest local manufacturer of personal computers (PCs) had declined.



I put it down to flooding the market with cheap PC's and a combination of bad managment myself.

Oh and New Zealands Socialist Crap Economy.

But nah.. I havn't been playn out much... I played on a Melbourne Radio Station which was fun... I could be going to lots of clubs and doing some nights with Rolex but I need new vinyl to be in amongst it.. So I choose not to at the moment.. I am very busy updating my IT Certifications and geting set up.. But the IT Industry is very flooded in Melbourne too... I think it is everywhere... Compaq dumped most it's support staff and set up new Support Departments in India because it's cheaper.

The IT market is a bit dodgy so the Corps are cutting costs...

Things will come right tho.. The Industry will always need Local Technicans/System Administrators to fix problems fast, rather than wait 4 weeks for PC's to be sent overseas for servicing etc.

Yer the PC Company going to shit is a blow for NZ really.. Even tho I loved working in HO Repairs, I am very glad I got out when I did..

Well.. got to go.. I intend to play out more when we move to North Melbourne tho... but thats a few months away...

I'm in no rush....
