AMD 2500+ or p4......??

Or the low power intel processor - centrino is it? Saying that I have a huge desknote with a P4 processor which works pretty well, but it's damned heavy and gets too hot to sit on your lap when it's busy.

I was so fucking impressed with the lower powered Centrino. In terms of 'noticable' performance, its rated at 1.4ghz.. But man, I can't actually tell the difference between performance on my 3.2ghz P4 workstation.. Then, in NFS:UG its just as quick, with NO performance decrease.. Totally impressed.

They are more expensive though. But like someone said: No heat, and no excessive fan noises.

Worth the $$. Go Centrino! (Finally something innovative over 'speed').

... also, I've been told they are the equivalent to anything 'desktop' twice their power. Ie. 1.4ghz = 2.8ghz desktop.

Would make sense, eh?

clock speed isnt everything but where the hell did you hear twice?

And laptops are always slower because of the trade off for power consmption and space. also the page file and programs are on a slow hdd so your access times are slow and often having a faster processor is a waste because it cant get the data there to be processed fast enough (depending what youre doing)
