Missy Elliot to play show in Auckland

One of hip-hop's biggest female stars is confirmed to play an Auckland show.

Missy Elliott is booked to play at the Mt Smart Supertop on Wednesday, June 2 - the only New Zealand show for the Grammy-winning rapper and producer.

Backing Elliott will be 17 dancers, DJs, and a live band.

Since emerging in the early 90s, Elliott has delivered five solo albums with hits such as Get Ur Freak On and One Minute Man.

As well, she has production and writing credits for pop stars including Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Destiny's Child, Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, the late Aaliyah, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Elliott heads here after a joint US tour with Beyonce Knowles and Alicia Keys. Tickets for the show go on sale next Monday.
