Hello techno board... Just wanting to drop a line about Mic Newman, who will be in Auckland for a gig at Toto. Many doubt what the new wave of aussie producers are doing, but here's a top young talent who's finger is really on the quality pulse. There's nothing fodder / middle range safe techno about the way he plays either.
His big one on Get Physical came out last month (Charlotte remix for Booka Shade), smashing right up there on the beatport tech house charts at number 3. He's also done duties on 8Bit, and a forthcoming release on Dirt Crew. Plus releases on Toolroom, Great Stuff, Peppermint, etc. Romboy, Audiofly, Fatboy Slim, Lawler, etc. all chart this guy.
Another really cool thing to him is his "Town Of Sorrow" track. It's probably the first time I have ever heard the likes of Peter Urlich, Clarke Gayford, or Thane Kirby play a tech house track so often. Very happy about this and people getting into something that's played by Hernan Catteneo and so!

As a DJ he's both solid and quite special. Totally impressed me on how he controlled your standard young auckland dance music crowd with really hot and edgy, deep and groovy tech house and techno. He's at mischief on Jan 23 at Toto also featuring the HoneyClaws, Module, and so forth. Do come, Mic's a nice guy and he's really the business. Check the full event details at www.deline.co.nz or look out for a flyer post. Thanks!
