Im looking to head over for a holiday, know a few peeps over there, heres my question, is melbourne closer to being part of NZ than it is australia Razz
[quote]
musically maybe

with the likes of Shihad moving over there, didn't Fur Patrol move there too?

and Sean and Shapeshifter Cool
[quote]
no

Melbourne has a thriving club scene and a respectful throng of punters who don't make personality judgments on DJ's they have never met
[quote]
And they love their Prog!!
*cue monks hymn mecca type music scenario*

and they love trance too. And Psy, and DnB and Techno and house...

Give it up Sample, if you didnt post such blatent comments, I would never have judged you like that Neutral

Ive been in Melbs 2 months and it rocks! so much on all the time and every genre is catered for! so dissapointed in the dnb scene though, cant really figure out why altho i find the dnb internationals seem to play different tracks and there is a different atmosphere compared to back in nz. I fully think the NZ scene goes harder but time will tell! U should see how they dance here, seriously its called the melbourne shuffle and they put talcum powder on the floor so u can mash it up and kick around... crazy a!

Visit Fractured @ Seven on fridays... we provide quality breaks with Phil K, Brewster B, Keltec etc. Chilled DnB upstairs & Live Hip Hop/Funk at the front bar. (52 Albert Rd, South Melbourne)

Actually next week (13th June) we have Phantom from Auckland playing for us. Should be good!

Also if you in town in July, on 18th to be specific, come to our next Escape party @ Seven. Its tribal/tek/breaks/progressive with Our House (Sean Quinn & Kaysey Taylor) doing an artist album launch, plus Luke Chable VS Gwill Morris (Silver Planet, UK), Highland (dx/fx) and Escape Project (Dimitri Frost & Dean Ryan - 4 dx/live/fx). also breaks room & dnb upstairs.

Lived in Melbs for past 2 summers.. best days of my life (short one as it is so far..). Def strong Prog scene, but alot of house and tech as well. Check out
Honkytonks (Duckboard Place - CBD) deep NY style House... can be a bitch to get into now and then but very funky place
Prince of Wales (Fitzroy St, St Kilda) Saturday Nights ONE LOVE.. great great times.. alot of beautiful (bordering on gay) people but great atmosphere
Room 680 (Hawthorne) - Sean Quinn is resident onn Saturday nights - great progressive scene and very very cool venue if has an international going (have managed to catch, Joey Negro, Felix da Housecat and Roger Sanchez here).
Q Bar (Toorak Road) Pretty dirty cocaine haunt but still a bit of fun.
Revolver (chapel St) for the late nights
Seven (St Kilda Road - just off) for the young house crowd

Dnb is def lacking in melbs... though they are starting to shine to breaks.
Have a great time, just chill around the city and head out to St Kilda! Vineyard on Sundays is great.

many place for mellow DJs the angka321

Nacoa - if you are asking if there is any place for mellow dj's... then yeah HEAPS so many side alleys and little clubs and haunts especially down Prahan way (end of chapel St), in the city (try Flinders Lane)... just have to cruise around really. I'd say Melbourne is more Australia scene than NZ, just have a different style of night life, and a different way of looking at music. I enjoy their style alot more...
Have you been to Sydney? Well def expect something a bit different in melbourne!
