It has been bought to my attention that the name "Royal Rumble" - used to name the event to be held at Catalyst on may 13 2005. Has created problems. This was not the intent of any parties involved.

As print work cannot be retracted, the advertised gig will now be intellectually know as

"The gig formerly known as royal rumble"

hahahahaha, just kidding.....................

The gig has no name........nor does it really need one........ but it seems like a good way to waste a forum.......


Best (stupid'st) suggestion gets.....ummmm.......well.......laughed at.

*sigh* I take it a certain someone is having a big and claiming they have some right to the name "Royal Rumble"?

Now that’s funny, talk about clutching at straws while the ships going down.......

But just to clarify, here are a few FACTS for ya:

1) The name Royal Rumble was originally used by the WWF (as we all know) and as such they have a patent as part of their branding.

2) The name has been and still is used by other promoters around NZ (including Welly & Chch) for various dance events.

3) NOONE in NZ has a patent to this name and as such NOONE has a right to claim it as their own, the very idea anyone could take this to court is beyond stupefying.

I think its time to let go, don't you think?

I'm fairly certain the first time the name Royal Rumble was used in Hamilton was by EJ (for those who remember him) he put on a gig with MC Rolex, Myself, Cosha and some of the Welly boys: Baritone and one of there crews MC's I think his actual name was Mr Gunners or something similar.

Anyway I think I still have the flyer at home I think, it may even be on the wall at Catalyst if they still have the flyers out the back.

I'm not %100 certain though.. But it's close because I can envision the flyer in my mind and I'm sure it was called Royal Rumble.
