He is also 'false' and 'jabberjaw' *admittedly you could just find this out on discogs, but I may as well use my pointless knowledge where I can.

For the power of good benny... Very Happy

Shocked

AUDION playing in auckalnd?
[quote]
and wellington apparently
[quote]
Just went to see him twice. Was good was very good. After several drinks amoung other things the visuals start to melt your brain.
One of the best sets I have seen this year for sure.
[quote]
Was that at Fabric Tanner? Wanted to go to that. looked like a pretty decent lineup with Konrad Black.

This is pretty great for NZ if the turnout is more like it was for Michael Mayer than it was for Superpitcher.
[quote]
Yeah at Fabric, but also at Field day. Weirdly enough the sound was (obviously) better at Fabric, but I thought his set was better at field day.
Which is weird cause you think playing to a festival audience you'd tend to play it safer. He played a more subtle and building set at field day...at fabric he just took the f##king roof off. Which was also cool. Still 2 of the best sets this year though for me.
[quote]
Cool, well done dudes!

He'll be awesome Very Happy

Saturday September 19
Space Nightclub

Grand Re-Opening With Opus Soundsystem

(6 Osborne Street, Newmarket)

Matthew Dear is the mega star pin-up boy of electronic music, with holding elite respect as one of the greatest contemporary artists in the genre. Now after reaching untouchable acclaim, established as the modern innovator, we are extremely excited to have him perform under his mesmerizing A-List alias AUDION.

Support for this thrilling event includes Matt Drake, Daniel Farley, Shaveer, and Mtron Bomb. More excellent local DJs to be announced shortly.

INCLUDING FULL 2009 AUDION HECATOMB VISUALS SHOW

In ancient Greek, "Hecatomb" is the word for "large-scale sacrifice or slaughter"; in Audion's universe, it's a live audio/visual experience like no other. Hecatomb is a dazzling and gorgeous assault of light that spins and twists into the ether. Musically, it's the new live Audion--a relentless percussive onslaught that will leave you breathless. A whirlwind of light and sound, Hecatomb was created by longtime Audion art director Will Calcutt and renowned artist Eno Henze.

Audion’s live Hecatomb show only showcases at select festivals and clubs. These events are powerful experiments in chaos and hypnotic depth, tearing down the walls of the live electronic-music experience. Auckland is very fortunate to be host to this, and to one of the best visual shows seen on our shores.

ive had a few ticket issues with groovey this year.. i dont know what it is about working retail selling overpriced 2nd hand records that makes thier staff* such stuck up snobs.
i guess ticketmasters shitarse 'early bird' system must grind the staff down a bit.

(*some staff excluded im sure)
[quote]
Thats weird. I'll call them first thing in the morning and see what's up!

Thanks for heads up.
[quote]
Just spoke to them. It's all fine and go? Just note though that it's apparently on the board as 'Matthew Dear'

Tix also from DMC, Iticket Express, or text "Audion" to 858

Enjoy and shaping up to be a super goodie! Getting those big round circular screens into the venue today!
[quote]
im so jealous! it looks like i cant make the welli show. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

record it for me, shaveer..? Razz
[quote]
I was jealous but he's in Osaka the week after NZ so now I'm not Razz

What is everyone's favourite audion remix? He's done some great stuff.. Personally my favourite is the mix of Blackstrobe 'I'm a man'. I like a singalong.
[quote]
His remix of Hot Chip's "No Fit State"

Super simple and super effective!

im no longer jealous either, as its all come together at the final hour.. mates boyfriend is babysitting.. the ladies are heading out tonight!

FUCK YES!!!!! blower
[quote]
Nice!! By the way I got another couple of mentions from people about Real Groovy not knowing about the event.

The staff are just a tad confused as they've listed it as "Matthew Dear" and haven't made note of Audion. Or whoever's gone in asked for Audion not knowing audion is matthew dear bla bla etc. etc.

So yes tickets now definitely sorted as they have it under both names in system Smile

TOMORROW NIGHT![
[quote]
funny 'cos I did mention it might be under Matthew Dear and still no go
[quote]
Just found out Matthew Dear is coming back to Melbourne to play a DJ set (as himself) on Sunday night blower

Probably won't be the same as the full spectacle of Audion, but something is better than nothing Very Happy
[quote]
Probably rather see a dj set at revolver TBH. Although those visuals would be tasty - if the clubs dark enough to make them properly stand out..

I keep forgetting, are you in Melbourne? Coz the gig is at Revs and I dont know why you'd know that if you weren't here Embarassed

Ffs with Groovy heh. I just called them up and played stupid, asking for Audion tickets. They said no sign of anything ! Then asked for Matthew Dear and they said they've got it.

Hmm, will sort again. For now DMC, Iticket (express), or text "Audion" to 858.

Smile

O and yes, the show's technical specs require pretty high performance projectors... and for all the lights off - so that's all underway Smile
[quote]
I'm gonna go for something obvious, and the say Audion remix of I Feel Speed. How he could have taken such a meh track and created the demented masterpiece I don't know...

Audion has one seriously warped mind. But funky.
Kinda like Aphex Twin and James Brown in a lift Music
[quote]
rather an abrupt end to the show
[quote]

I'm surprised he didn't get on the mike and say "where's my taxi?"
[quote]
Err, so how was it then?
[quote]
good while it lasted
[quote]
but just as it looked like he was starting to crank it

[quote]
his visuals were great! he had moments of brilliance, music wise, and is very clever.. but his live set was kinda flat. he wound it up at the end, but then, as night rider has said, he finished.

luckily we got a dj set off him after that which, tbh, i enjoyed more than the live set.

was a great party though! good crowd out and i had a fantastic time running amok at sammies. Smile
[quote]
so how long was his dj set cos we didn't get one?
[quote]
not sure, tbh. i left at 5 and he was still playing.

out of curiosity, what were the visuals like in akl? i was expecting more of a 3d effect, rather than just on the wall behind him. they were still well cool, though.
[quote]
like you I expected the 3d and we got the 2d like you but not the dj unlike you

sammies the place to be, again
[quote]
Actually to clarify ... he said that's how he always ends his live set Smile ... And then matt drake was in the bathroom doing his hair haha.

FYI - . he said the max duration for live it is 60-70 minutes. Then he said if he's the center of the club event, (like in auckland and wellington), he always DJ afterwards for a couple hours to carry on a show... totally free and for fun.

Unfortunately for us he had a bad oyster in Wellington and was feeling terrible the next day, especially before and after the Auckland show. When he landed the poor fella was looking disastrous and when finished his set he kept apologizing that he really didn't feel up to DJing. Trust me he wanted to!
[quote]
welly wonka conka stonka
[quote]
Although I got great feedback from people from enjoying the event and what the did (and thanks everyone for coming!!) .. I was personally gutted about the visual set up.

I spent flippin hours in the garage raw constructing these massive circle surfaces. For hanging from the ceiling more above the crowd, and to be projected onto. To give that experiential effect rather than just the projected onto screen feel

Then his technical manager had other ideas and reasons. Gutted!

Awesome set though, cool experimental-tough techno berghain styles. Pics up shortly!!

I couldn't help but recall these lyrics
quote:

Why'd you do it, she said, ain't nothing to laugh,

You just tore all our kisses right in half!

Why'd ya do it, she said, why'd ya do what you did,
Betray my little oyster for such a low bitch.
