Just went to see him twice. Was good was very good. After several drinks amoung other things the visuals start to melt your brain.
One of the best sets I have seen this year for sure.

Was that at Fabric Tanner? Wanted to go to that. looked like a pretty decent lineup with Konrad Black.

This is pretty great for NZ if the turnout is more like it was for Michael Mayer than it was for Superpitcher.

Yeah at Fabric, but also at Field day. Weirdly enough the sound was (obviously) better at Fabric, but I thought his set was better at field day.
Which is weird cause you think playing to a festival audience you'd tend to play it safer. He played a more subtle and building set at field day...at fabric he just took the f##king roof off. Which was also cool. Still 2 of the best sets this year though for me.

ive had a few ticket issues with groovey this year.. i dont know what it is about working retail selling overpriced 2nd hand records that makes thier staff* such stuck up snobs.
i guess ticketmasters shitarse 'early bird' system must grind the staff down a bit.

What is everyone's favourite audion remix? He's done some great stuff.. Personally my favourite is the mix of Blackstrobe 'I'm a man'. I like a singalong.

The staff are just a tad confused as they've listed it as "Matthew Dear" and haven't made note of Audion. Or whoever's gone in asked for Audion not knowing audion is matthew dear bla bla etc. etc.

So yes tickets now definitely sorted as they have it under both names in system

Just found out Matthew Dear is coming back to Melbourne to play a DJ set (as himself) on Sunday night

Probably won't be the same as the full spectacle of Audion, but something is better than nothing

Probably rather see a dj set at revolver TBH. Although those visuals would be tasty - if the clubs dark enough to make them properly stand out..

O and yes, the show's technical specs require pretty high performance projectors... and for all the lights off - so that's all underway

I'm gonna go for something obvious, and the say Audion remix of I Feel Speed. How he could have taken such a meh track and created the demented masterpiece I don't know...

Audion has one seriously warped mind. But funky.
Kinda like Aphex Twin and James Brown in a lift

but just as it looked like he was starting to crank it

his visuals were great! he had moments of brilliance, music wise, and is very clever.. but his live set was kinda flat. he wound it up at the end, but then, as night rider has said, he finished.

luckily we got a dj set off him after that which, tbh, i enjoyed more than the live set.

was a great party though! good crowd out and i had a fantastic time running amok at sammies.

so how long was his dj set cos we didn't get one?

not sure, tbh. i left at 5 and he was still playing.

out of curiosity, what were the visuals like in akl? i was expecting more of a 3d effect, rather than just on the wall behind him. they were still well cool, though.

like you I expected the 3d and we got the 2d like you but not the dj unlike you

Actually to clarify ... he said that's how he always ends his live set ... And then matt drake was in the bathroom doing his hair haha.

FYI - . he said the max duration for live it is 60-70 minutes. Then he said if he's the center of the club event, (like in auckland and wellington), he always DJ afterwards for a couple hours to carry on a show... totally free and for fun.

Unfortunately for us he had a bad oyster in Wellington and was feeling terrible the next day, especially before and after the Auckland show. When he landed the poor fella was looking disastrous and when finished his set he kept apologizing that he really didn't feel up to DJing. Trust me he wanted to!

Although I got great feedback from people from enjoying the event and what the did (and thanks everyone for coming!!) .. I was personally gutted about the visual set up.

I spent flippin hours in the garage raw constructing these massive circle surfaces. For hanging from the ceiling more above the crowd, and to be projected onto. To give that experiential effect rather than just the projected onto screen feel

Then his technical manager had other ideas and reasons. Gutted!

Awesome set though, cool experimental-tough techno berghain styles. Pics up shortly!!
