heads up if you live in Canterbury. The people with the money are ready to mess up your environment for profit.

All you have to do in response is turn up and rave!

Get out of your clubs, get out of your comfort zone, come to a real dance party .. get outdoors where the sound systems sound better and make your dance moves counts.

Besides .. it's a full moon, there is going to be a fire and some drums, so you can go crazy!!

Meanwhile on the dance floor is going to be one sweet beat ride from dusk till dawn. Get into it not out of it.

FULL MOON EQUINOX

Easter Saturday & Sunday
Dancefloor open at 6pm

Malvern Hills Rd, Colgate

In the path of the year; on the arc of the sun; once again M*A*S*S*I*V*E sets up to celebrate the autumn Equinox. A moment of celestial balance when the day is as long as the night. This year’s celebration meets up with the rising of a full "Harvest Moon".

A special line up has been set to match this cosmic tale.

A rhythmic journey: from the light of day to the darkness before dawn. Through moon shadows, falling stars and melodic dreams, this dance evokes the stories of old. Of magic nights and connected feeling, all people dancing together as one.

So join us in the timeless traditions, find your feet, find balance and let your fears slip away. This is a Full Moon Equinox with a special mission to raise public awareness about a destructive dairy irrigation scheme.

Proudly supported by Djs & Artists:
Anubus, Fat Albert, Invader Tron (Live), Is & Been, Massive Sound System, Mute_Continue, Psilo, Schiller (Live), Sinclair, Speedy, Willie

Tickets From Hunters & Collectors

(Full weekend)

Plus on Sunday after Psilo's set M*A*S*S*I*V*E is proud to support the:

Malvern Hills Protection Society
FESTIVAL OPEN DAY FUNDRAISER

Easter Sunday
11am - 8pm

Malvern Hills Rd, Colgate

Bands, Stalls, performers, food,

This special corner in Canterbury, The Malvern Hills, embraces the wooded hills from Homebush, to Coalgate, Glentunnel and Whitecliffs. The Selwyn River wends its way out of the foothills down to the sea and the Harper Hills serve as a look out to the Southern Alps. Nestled on the edge of The Malvern Hills is the Waianiwaniwa Valley, a lush, productive valley and home to some of Canterbury´s first settlers.

This idyllic setting may soon disappear however, because this quiet but industrious little community is under threat from a private company's proposal to build a massive irrigation scheme in Central Canterbury.....

About the party it self.

There are two components to the Equinox.

First up is the usual Massive deal with a large sound system playing stonking beats all night so you can go crazy and rave your pants off. The second part is an afternoon and evening of live music from Artists who appear on a CD produced by the Malvern Hill Protection society.

It should be noted here that all the Dj's, Producers, Artists and Bands performing at the Full Moon Equinox are doing so for FREE in support of the Malvern Hill Protection society. Profits from the party are being passed onto the Society to assist the legal battle to save the Valley from downing.

To take a closer look: the line up for the dance this Equinox has been especially programmed for pure dancing effect. Yes you can have fun when saving your environment.

A couple of special guests have been invited up from Queenstown to play. Sinclair & Speedy. Both old school regulars on the scene in QT!

Sinclair in a former life was also one of the key Vj's at the Gathering and Mu Mu parties. Nowadays Sinclair is heavy duty proponent of super slippery uplifting prog sound, the good stuff! Sinclair also produces his own tunes and with an arm twist may even play some. He has been invited along to play the big party sound that may have been missing from you life until now.

Speedy hosts a regular radio show on the Studio Fm in Queenstown called "the Milk Run". A mainstay of the ruthless QT Dj scene for over six years Speedy can drop anything from a Hip Hop beat to a deep house tune. You put out the order and he will deliver the goodness. Speedy secret weapon is a devastating collection of NZ roots music.

However for all the fuss over these guys they are just two players in a long night of serious good music. I just thought we should make some noise cause they are going to drive the longest way to play.

Other highlights of the playlist are the three producers who will be playing their own material. Invader Tron, Schiller and control_mute. All three featured in the recently acclaimed .3rd Resistance at Canaan Downs Festival and have tweaked their sets even more since new years to come and really do something special for the Massive crowd.

In this regards these producers have been placed at strategic points on the curve of the party to provide maximum feeling and nuance to the mood and vibe that has been intended for the dance.

The remainder of the run out is really the collection of the usual suspects with the exception that they have all been placed under strict instructions to deliver the goods or die trying.

People to look out for are the all mighty Willie who has been directed to get the party started, to take us from here to there while makeing it count. At the oppisite end of this monster is Psilo who has been set up as the final word, the finishing touch to this Equinox dance. This is a special set from Psilo, a parting beat, a finishing note. Psilo is leaving town for a while and may not make it back to Massive party any time soon .... so make sure you get on the floor for his set!

Another one to look out for is Fat Albert. Like your favourite uncle on too much root beer this guy is going to make you laugh you pants off if you don't dance them off first. Big bad bang bang party beats for bouncing and bopping. Bomma!

The trouble in the middle is going to be interesting. Local minimal bad boys Is & Been have squared their way into the deep end and reports are that they mean business. But its not all bad with out breaks. For those in desperate need for a broken beat, Anubus is online to show us the light.

What ever way it stacks out. Rest assured this group has been chosen for reasons beyond fame, glory or hope. It has been a conscious process, a directed effort to create what is sometimes referred to as "the ride". Which is that thing that happens to the massive when everyone gets on at the start and stays on till the finish.

Being a dance party and being outdoors everything could go horribly wrong. Someone could blow a fuse or the geny could run out of fuel! As long as we all look out for each other how bad can it really get?

Anyway while all this is happening there is also going to be a wicked fire pit and drumming circle (did I mention Full Moon!) Alongside a uber ultra visual chill zone featuring educational movies for your mind and soul.

If any of this has confused you so far .. just think to yourself "its on!"

On to the second part of the party: This is where the Massive format breaks from tradition and enters a new realm of chilling out fun.

Around midday the day after the night before. The dance floor will get spun around and new people will arrive to join us in recognising the value of the land as land not as an irrigation lake.

Featuring live music all afternoon and into the evening all Massive crew are welcomed to spend an extra night relaxing on site, camping and enjoying a different tempo of music and people.

This is a rare a wicked opportunity to extend the Massive vibe into a new community of people and to also support a really important issue that is facing not only the local land owners in Malvern Hills but everyone who lives in Canterbury.

The essential facts remain that this Full Moon Equinox is going to be held in a valley that may be flooded to provide irrigation water for Dairy Farming. It is this issue that has made this dance floor available to Massive and it is this issue that makes every beat we dance to mean something relevant for everyone involved.

..

That might be everything, I'm sure I missed some ,.. but yea...

Know the issue, know why your dancing on the land where the party is being held.
