Album release party is this Friday at 420 on K Road, followed by similar album release parties around the country. At the end of August he heads back to NY for the 12 inch release parties for the tracks he did with Scram Jones and Inspectah Deck.

NZ hip hop starting to make moves again, watch out for future releases from Scribe, R.E.S and DJ CXL.

I saw him aswell a couple of weeks ago on space, I personally saw way better talent @ a local battle in welli. He is not that good @ freestlyin (on space anyway), big ups though for what hes done

The standered of that battles was very bad , but mareko murdered jrocc. I have judged the last 2 Battle for Surpremacys here in auckland and have audio from both welli battles and I can safley say that the verse mareko spit on space would have killed anyone in the welli battle and was on par with anything anyone spit at the surpremacys. If your in any doubt ill have the audio up from the BRAG 2 battle welli battle on moday and you can compare them. Seriously it sounds alot different on the night with the crowd reactions etc ( of whitch mark did not have on space ).

also any mc in the country will tell you that mareko is one of the best freestylers around..

Not meaning to be a hater...but tha fact that he got all those dudes on his album means fuk all...you got the money to pay them for a verse and a couple of contacts , then anybody can get them

Then it's a sign of skill that even with the guest appearances the best tracks are the ones homegrown. If you can pull that much talent on a budget that would normally only pay for one producer and a guest MC from NY then put your own money where your mouth is.

i brought the album the day it came out and am still enjoying listening to it today. Scribe is good but not internationally good.
There is a person out there rising above scribe and possibly mareko, his name is of course con psy.

scribe is in no way a better mc than mareko. mareko has the best lyrics in all of nz hip hop ever.
don't get me wrong, scribe is da bomb. his flowz, delivery & style are unmatched.
imo, here to stay by mareko is wack radio-friendly bullshit & a weak track on his album. he has way betta tracks.
but scribe's stand up is fuckin dope. and the vibe doesn't feel put on the way mareko's does on his first single.

I saw mareko at the ITF South Island champs in chch on the weekend.
A-Trak was also there.

B4 headin up i listened to the mareko cd, and was looking forward to a good performance. However he sucked ass, i couldn't beleive it, ok ok i'll back up a second his first two tracks he performed live were pretty good, the rest of his performance and hosting was terrible.. you guys say he's good at freestyling?? well why doesnt he do it more often? he was singing along to cds !!! and when he stopped the lyrics were still pumping and he was left looking like a big dummy

Pause deserved to win, but i enjoyed the funked up sounds mighty matt b was making that was cool, and good to see a-trak again

To put this post into perspective i've only seen mareko perform once and maybe he was having a bad night or sumthin.

kr0nique: thats called a backing track you dolt , with no hypeman it's rather hard to rap sing an entire track without passing out. Mark was sick ass that night I was standing next to him on stage and he was coughing and had nearly lost his voice. the fact that you dident even notice was a testament to his professionalism.

Why doesnt he freestyle more? when you have an album out people watch you to hear tracks from your album not to hear you freestyle. Mareko has a reputation as a battle mc and is trying to get away from that with his album promotion.

Mareko is 4 time national champion and people comparing his battle record with scribes need to fucking check them selves. Scribe is a good mc but he is not 1/2 the battle mc mareko is. Mareko has 4 National titles , scribe came second at the christchurch mc1's and made the semi finals at the nationals. Even scribe would scoff at you for mentioning him and mareko on equal footing on the battle tip. Freestyling / Battling / Stage Show and Studio work are very very differnt ... dont get it twisted.
