Making short video (for dummies)

Bit of a random question/thread but need the help from skilled or in the know biggies!

I've decided i'm going to make a little video for my mum for her birthday with some birthday messages from me around some of the sights of Rome... but not sure the best way to do it as I can take videos on my camera but then I don't have an editing programme (well i don't think I do)... is there something that I can download (preferably free) to do so?

And then to send the file will be too big (i'm thinking it will be no longer than a minute).... so is there a site I can upload to and give her the password? Or is youtube the only option??

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Are you on a mac or PC Mon?

Youtube or Vimeo is definitely the best option. Or if it's only a minute i could probably make it small enough so you can email it to her.

Windows Live Movie Maker will be the easiest thing to use. Shouldn't take anyone long to get the hang of it, we have teachers and children using it here with basically no training.

And yeah it's free.

so apparently i have Movie Maker... had a little fiddle with itt last night.... should hopefully be able to figure it out!!
