WHO ARE HIGH DOSAGE…?
Live keyboards and sampling combined with CDJ’s and audio software – all
creating tough, uplifting riffs, driving percussion and huge basslines…
High Dosage is truly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the hard dance
scene.
Made up of Terry Blunt (aka Terry Wizz) and Ryan Tregurtha (aka Dr Tre) who
teamed up back in August 2004, they started producing tracks as High Dosage in
Terry’s spare room, and played out at local club ‘Cube’ in Auckland that same
month with a phenomenal response.
Since that night their unique sound and awesome energy onstage has been
destroying dance floors, and annihilating clubs across New Zealand and
Australia.
All of there material (released and unreleased) has sparked interest from some of
the worlds leading high energy DJ / Producers, and they have headlined
numerous gigs alongside the likes of Jupe, ilogik, Justin Bourne, Phil Reynolds,
Scott Bond, Lisa Lashes, Narc, Technikal, Steve Hill, Karim, Tinrib, K90, Eamon
Fevah, Daniel Ro, Above and Beyond, Carl Cox, the list goes on…!
THE SOUND:
Ryan and Terry have managed to capture the uplifting, euphoric sound of hard
trance and fuse it together with the pounding kicks and driving bass lines of hard
house, to create what can only be described as…… HIGH DOSAGE!!!
High Dosage have modeled themselves on the world’s best live hard dance act
‘Lab4’ and as a result, raised the bar in high energy production and performance.
Their live P.A is always totally original and filled with energy as well as visually
entertaining and audibly perfect.
All music performed by High Dosage is written and produced by the boys
themselves at their comprehensive residence (upbeat studios) in Auckland.
Every set is different with new tracks being written all the time, which pulls more
and more people into the gigs to hear their fresh new material.
This makes High Dosage one of the most unique acts in the electronic music
scene, combining keyboards, CDJ’s, samplers, computer software and even live
drums into their shows. The result is an onslaught of high energy tracks that is
sonically and visually awesome!
THE SUCCESS:
High Dosage are responsible for producing the worldwide smash ‘Fightclub’
(Remixed by Matt Williams) which was released on Fired Up records in 2004.
As their first release it gained them huge credit in the hard dance world, including
a main spot on the 2004 Hard dance music awards CD/DVD compilation which
sold over 30,000 copies worldwide.
Follow up tracks released on the Fired Up label include ‘Religion’ (Produced
alongside DJ Jupe) and ‘Witness’ (Remixed by Prime Mover).
Both tracks received Top 10 placement in the largest dance music magazine in
the world ‘MixMag’
‘Witness’ was subsequently voted one of Lisa Lashes top 3 tracks of 2005.
– Nuff said!
Ryan (Dr Tre) has also endeavored on a few alternate projects, recently remixing
Paul Glazbys infamous ‘Fuck em all’ track for a ‘Trauma Trax’ remix competition
taking out the top spot out of 300+ producers worldwide and winning a release on
the Trauma Trax ‘Remixes’ compilation.
He has also teamed up with Disturbed from Wellington NZ to create some hard
NRG tracks, which have already been snapped up by ‘Spinball Records’ and
‘Octane Records’ with the tunes being showcased on some of the worlds top
Hardhouse / NRG mix CD’s.
KATIPO RECORDS
In February 2007 Ryan and Terry launched their own record label ‘Katipo
Records’ the first Hard Dance record label ever to be set up in New Zealand with
the first release hitting the shelves in March 2007.
This first release became the fastest selling hard dance E.P ever in NZ, selling
60 copies in less than 12 hours.
