Hear he knocked himself out and is injured AGAIN!

concussion is not nice...7 months and counting for my recovery...not the best thing for having to think quickly on your feet in court either JH. heh

agreed. it's just that Lukey Mac is unusually good at the concussion/injury thing.

a type of death-wish? Confused

I heard on the news it was an attempted tackle on Tana Umaga that did the damage. Seriously, McAlistar needs to do something about his technique, or go to Japan ASAP.
[quote]
yes it was Umaga, who sounded bemused, and was completely unharmed
[quote]
It's fucking ridiculous.

Why Japan FB?

Really sad - all Luke wants to do is play rugby and he puts everything into it. He's fucken gutted.

Sad

yeah. Fuckin haters. He's a great player who attracts an unbelievable amount of flak just because he's not perfect/absolutely elite like a Carter or a McCaw. Same bullshit meant Carlos left these shores way too early
[quote]
He used to be amazing, but never got back to his best after the 2007 WC and has had more than a few mares since (playing Heineken cup and suffering numerous injuries didn't help his cause).
[quote]
Carlos is an interesting one - he finally realised he had squandered the better half of his career by partying/drinking when he should have been knuckling down working. By the time he was in his late 20s I think a lot of high-up people were tired waiting for him to get past that and younger guys were coming through who they could turn to.

McAlister is a talented guy no doubt but has trouble keeping injury free. When so many of those injuries seem similar in cause administrators/coaches and team-mates would be silly not to ask why he hasn't addressed the issue(s). If he has and gets injured regardless then maybe his body is just not cut out for high-impact sports despite his talents.

The sad reality is, in team sports being injured is still letting the team down regardless of fault. At some point efforts would be better spent looking for new talent to nurture instead.

Luke is a legend in the UK. Im pretty sure he won player of the year for the whole comp or suchlike. He would be welcomed back there with open arms and has no need to go to the "has been" comp of Japan like fish_boy is implying

I agree he is not the player he once was, and he be fair he has mismanaged his own career and/or was given bad advice. Going to the UK when he did was a mistake

[quote]
Pretty sure he'll head to France, not the UK. Better lifestyle, less pressure, more money.

Badda bing.

Cool

I'm not sure about "not cut for rugby" call. He just needs to learn to tackle.
[quote]
Not just head injuries though, he's had lots of other injuries too.

True. Although he might be having a bad run and should have some time off any rugby (which I think he should have done ages ago). Sometimes that's all that body needs. These guys are always rushed back from their injuries.
[quote]
I thought fish_boy was mentioning Japan as the players tend to be shorter thus he has more chance of tackling an actual torso as opposed to a knee...

how many head injuries/concussions has he had? obviously i don't know how they affect him, but i am currently recovering from concussion myself (7 months and counting), and if he has had a lot and they affect him badly in his general life, he should seriously consider quitting, and turning his hand to something else. being affected by concussion is not nice at all...

Christian Cullen was rushed back from his knee injury by the Cunterbury-dominated NZRFU, who wanted Leon McDonald at fullback. Straight up truth, ask anybody who was around at the time. That's some seriously machiavellian shit.
