LS1 = the first generation of Chev V8 that replaced the Holden V8, in HSV's at first. That this motor fits in an S14 means anything in the LSx range fits, up to the 7.0l 500hp LS7 fitted to the latest Corvette Z06.
The killer part is, the LS1 V8 and T56 6speed manual is 60kg lighter than the iron block KA24DE 2.4l inline4 and gearbox fitted to US market S14's. An SR20DET is within a few pounds of this motor as well.
70kw more power at the flywheel than an SR20DET stock, and far easier, far more reliable power upgrades. Damn nigga.
Also, the LSx series are incredibly fuel efficient for a hulking V8. The Corvette Z06 mentioned gets as high as 26mpg highway.
Also, they reckon there is room for turbos
PFunk, you keen? :>
