Low idle

I have a manual 96 Nissan Pulsar

Its usally idles at 1 on the rev counteer when i'm waiting at the lights. Lately it has started to idle at about .75 and often drops to .5. When this happens, the car starts to shake as if it is going to stall.

I often just just rev it slightly so I'm not sure what will happen if I just left it.

Does anyone know what is causing this?

Could be a few things, id probably try an injector cleaner first or it could need some new spark plugs?

first thing i would check on a nissan is the IACV, Idle Air Control Valve. it most likely just needs cleaning.

try goggling for 'cleaning pulsar iacv' and other combos, or hit up nissan specific forums. what size engine is it, 1.6?

highly likely you can fix this by cleaning this, which is a fairly trivial task. a mechanic would most likely replace the part totally.

If its the GA15DS Motor the throttle body is also a intergral part of the Airflow meter. And the Circuit box on the side tends to get condensate inside and flog it out.......
