Looking to buy a car

I'm not sure if you guys seen my thread in the lounge, but I've written off my car. A drink driver ran a stop sign and I ended taking him out.

Anyways, insurance is paying me the value of the car, which is $2.5k. I'm looking to get something that is semi economical, reliable, cheapish to fix. You get the picture. Also, where is the best place to buy (ie. auction, trade-me, car market, etc)?

What are your suggestions on this please?

I saw couple of Legacies on trade-me (wagons), which I really like. Being a surfer, it would suit me, but I'm not sure how reliable subarus are.

I had a Corrolla before (cielo, sprinter) and I liked it. It was cheap to run and had enough room for my board. I bought my last car from a mate, and every other car I've had before this also been purchased through friends/family, so need an advice please.

20V corolla wagon will be cheap and reliable. Youll spend a bit fixing a Subaru...

can't go to wrong with a corolla....but plenty can go wrong with a subbie.
