Yes- I know what long distance relationsips are like- ad they are very very hard. If at all possible, avoid placing yourself in this sort of situation. That said, if you feel life is pulling you in one direction and the person you love is not as mobile as that, what choice is there? Do you subdue whatever it is inside you that is making you want to move, or do you end a relationship which is otherwise very loving and fulfilling? Not going into too much personal detail, but I have had a pretty hard time with such a situation as a result of moving to Sydney. Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused is how it makes me feel

There is no way I could do it. It would be way to hard.

I have had friends that have done it and every single time it hasnt worked out. I think if two people want to be together enough, then they wouldnt be having a long distance relationship in the first place. Smile

they don't work... as much as you might try to keep them working... i think its best that if someone your with goes overseas that you break up, keep in touch and both people do their own thing until you can catch up again and then maybe be together again.

I started my OE in March 02, going to London with my best mate..

He had just broken up with a long time gf and I had just met this awesome girl who I had my eye on for about 3-4 months..

We were together for 2-3 weeks prior to my leaving for the UK and when I left I was pretty sad but cos of the fact that I was in a new country having a good time it took my mind off things for a while but eventually I started to think "she could be the girl for me" so one day I went to the travel agent and booked my return flight, arriving a day before her 20th birthday & we were living together within 2 weeks!

I only lasted 3 1/2 months in London but in 7 days Im heading back there, with her!

I couldnt imagine going there without her and trying to still maintain a relationship, it wouldnt work.

It has to be all or nothing, I guess thats why I came back, I couldnt handle having my emotions in two different parts of the world.

long distance doesn't work. Way too hard. You end up ruining your good times because you wish your other half was there with you.

Basically a relationship is built on shared experiences. Long distances takes that all away from you.

I had a long distance relationship. We were together for a year and a half, saw each other twice a year, but sadly, the distance was too much and we broke up....

I think if you're considering a long distance relationship, you have to ask yourself exactly why you're in a relationship in the first place.... maybe it's more about security than actually wanting to be with someone to share your life with...

If it's for a few months, then OK, but for a year or more, then you're going to miss out on meeting a whole lot of people who might be better, or more suited to you...
